Okazaki Hails ‘Legend’ Vardy

Shinji Okazaki has been praising Leicester team-mate Jamie Vardy, describing his fellow striker as a club ‘legend’.

Former England international Vardy surpassed 100 goals for the Foxes during Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Fulham in the Premier League – the latest in a long line of achievements for the 32-year-old since his arrival at the King Power Stadium – most notably the role he played in Leicester’s 2016 title triumph.

Okazaki was also part of that Premier League-winning squad and he has played with Vardy for the last four years. The Japan international certainly holds his strike partner in high regard, describing him as a club legend.

“I have so much respect for Jamie because I have played behind him for four years,” Okazaki was quoted as saying by the Leicester Mercury.

“He has probably scored 40 or 50 goals with me in behind him and some of them have been perfect strikes. “I have admired his goals.

He is a great striker. I have so much respect for him and everyone does. “I said to him every time you are a legend in Leicester.”

Okazaki may not get the chance to play alongside Vardy on too many more occasions as the 32-year-old, who has started just once in the Premier League this term, is out of contract at the end of the season.
