Sparta Rotterdam of Holland first choice goalie, Maduka Okoye has picked Vincent Enyeama, the former Lille of France shot stopper as his greatest Nigerian goalkeeper of all time.
Okoye, who is currently the Super Eagles number one goalie following the injury to Francis Uzoho rated Enyeama above Peter Rufai, another former Super Eagles goalie.
“I go with Enyeama as the greatest Nigerian goalkeeper because I watched more of his games,he belongs to my generation and he is one of the best from the African continent,” he said in an interview with Rijnmond.nl.
Okoye confessed he didn’t see much of Rufai’s games albeit he remembered the former Stationary Stores of Lagos goalie was not only in the Eagles squad that wowed the world at the 1994 FIFA World Cup but also his historic role in the Dutch Eredivise.
“I know he was at the World Cup in 1994 and was the first Nigerian goalkeeper to play in the Dutch Eredivise with Go Ahead Eagles,”added Okoye.
Okoye was also asked to pick between Henk Fraser, his coach at Sparta Rotterdam and Gernor Rohr, the Nigeria national team gaffer who is the better gaffer.
“Both are great guys. I know Rohr a bit longer and will always be grateful to him for giving my career a big lift.I was in goal against Brazil in a friendly game and since then my stocks have risen.”
Pressed to pick who he considers the best gaffer, Okoye settled for Rohr.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved. The information contained in Completesports.com may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed without the prior written authority of Completesports.com.
