Okoye: Super Eagles More Focused On AFCON 2021 Trophy

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye says he’s optimistic the team can win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Okoye made this known in an interview with Brila FM, where he stated that Nigeria is more focused on the opening Group D game against the Pharaohs of Egypt on January 11.

The Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper will be making his debut at the bi-annual tournament and has promised to give his best in Cameroon.

“We are more focused on the trophy and nothing but the AFCON trophy.

“I think it’s important how you enter the tournament, If you enter the tournament with a very good game then they already know about you.

”So I think the first game is going to be very important after that it’s just doing my thing and be at my best.

“It’s a team achievement, we want to get goals and also not concede goals but as goalkeepers, the less goals we concede, the more points for our team”.

Carry go my guy. The Super Eagles shall overcome. You have the prayers of Nigerians. Heaven bless Okoye and all deserving Super Eagles players.

  • The most exposed and high profile goalkeeper SE has at the moment…..Uzoho is good but he shot himself in the foot with his club movements…….If Uzoho can tie down a number one shirt in a club in ordinary Belgium Portugal or Holland sef he will drop okoye to the bench……. until then okoye is still miles above him.

My only worry in our team is the goal keeping department,I have never seen this guy stop a shot heading towards before, they always enter.

Ha ha “they always enter” Please take it easy on our number one na..

Go watch his saves in his club side. You bow.

Apparently, in the 7 out of 13 matches where he has kept clean sheets in the SE thus far in his career, there were no shots at goal in all 7 matches. That must be the reason why ‘nothing enter’ in those 7 games

  • You will be facing some of the best attackers on the continent. Be focused on not conceding goals.
