Former Nigerian international Sylvanus Okpala has advised Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface to start scoring goals for the team.
He gave this warning amid Boniface’s lack of goals in the senior national team despite painting the Bundesliga with goals this season with Bayer Leverkusen.
In a chat with Brila FM, Okpala advised the Nigerian international to learn to provide assist for his teammate if he can’t score goals.

“Osimhen comes in and scores. When Osimhen isn’t there, Boniface doesn’t score. He needs to be talked to, given a lot of confidence, and reminded that as a center forward, his primary role is to score. If he can’t score, then he should start providing assists.
“He shouldn’t be too anxious to score in every game. Yes, scoring is crucial, but he needs to stay calm. When you count one, you can get to two.
“Once he starts scoring, the confidence will return. It’s normal. Bayer Leverkusen is different from the national team,” the 63-year-old said in an interview with Brila.

I won’t join you people in blaming an innocent young man, Boniface. Instead, I will blame Eguavoen, who has eyes but could not see that giving Boniface 20 minutes towards the end of every match would bring the best out of our Boniface kę.
As hot as Aghahowa was in your 2000 at the Afcon in Lagos, Jo Bonfere did not start Aghahowa, but he introduced him gradually by ni kę.
NFF must not hire a foreign coach if we have to have a solid team and if we have to qualify for the World Cup.
Siasia is the solution nit a foreign coach
NFF Ajęwomasan should listen and stop wasting time for no reason. They should get Siasia on board by giving him a two-year contract. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Boniface needs to bring his form in the club to the national team. If not the coach must look elsewhere because we need a sharp person to score goals.
Yes, you are right.
Boniface must not needs to bring his form in the club to the national team yet but soon as possible and make it immediately. If not the coach must not look elsewhere but try to look at all because we need a sharp person to score no goals.
Segun West – thanks, you are correct.
Boniface needs not to bring his form in the club to the national team. If not unless the coach must look elsewhere because we need a sharp person who is dull to score goals.
Sylvanus Okpala; Quicksilver.
Great at everything.
What a player he was for both club and country!
Sylvanus Okpala was at the start called Iba Benin, later Hafia before the legendary football commentator, the late Ernest Okonkwo Christined him Quick Sylver.
Are we still gonna give him more chance? We should do away with this guy abeg and look for another deputy striker. He’s done!!!
Ipetu Madu can play number 9 for the Super Eagles. Failing that bring George Best abi na Tolu North. Lolz
Hahahahah…..So playing in the champions league and Bundesliga has not helped him to be a capable DEPUTY to the one that ” is not all that good” who is playing in tolotolo league and a tolotolo Europa league that his parent club (Napoli) didn’t even qualify for….LMAOoo.
This has to be one big case study in contradictory psychosis research….LMAOoo
