Collins Edwin SC winger Olaitan Lamidi has expressed confidence in his team to go all the way to win the 1XCup 2026.
Lamidi shared this opinion on Friday during an interview with Complete Sports after helping Collins Edwin to reach the group stage.
Collins Edwin qualified for the next round of the 1XCup 2026 in style after beating fellow representatives from the Lagos Island zone, FC Bethel Sporting 2-0 in a preliminary stage encounter at the Inspire Sports Ground, Cappa, Oshodi, Lagos.
After starting the game on an impressive note, Lamidi put his side 1-0 ahead in the eight minute, collecting the ball on the left wing and dribbling past a Bethel Sporting defender before the winger unleashed a terrific shot into the back of the net.

Collins Edwin increased the lead in the 27th minute courtesy of a penalty which was converted by captain Adebayo Ibrahim and they defended stoutly to emerge as 2-0 winners.
After winning the man-of-the-match award following a spectacular performance, Lamidi told Complete Sports that he believes Collins Edwin is good enough to go ahead and win the 1XCup 2026.
“I am very excited to win the man-of-the-match award but I am even more excited that my team has made it through to the next stage of the competition and that to me is better than any individual prize,” the winger who hails from the Republic of Benin said.
“As far as I am concerned, I believe that we are good enough to go ahead and win the competition, however, my teammates and I will take it one step at a time and we are only looking forward to the next game.”
