Olayinka: I Can Score Goals For Super Eagles

Slavia Prague forward Peter Olayinka is ready to shoulder goal scoring responsibility for Nigeria at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, reports Completesports.com.

Olayinka is expected to make his first appearance for the Super Eagles in Wednesday’s (today ) Group D clash against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau.

The Super Eagles wasted a number of chances in their opening two games in Cameroon and interim head coach Austine Eguavoen has expressed concern with the situation.

Out of the four goals the Super Eagles have scored at the competition, only one came from a striker (Taiwo Awoniyi).

Olayinka has however promised to deliver the goods for the Super Eagles any time he has the chance to play.

“If I get the chance to start against Guinea-Bissau, I will do my best to help us get a good result,”he told the media in Garoua.

“Every striker like to score goals and I believe I can do that for the Super Eagles.

“The entire team is looking forward to the game against Guinea-Bissau and it will be great to maintain our performance from the game against Egypt and Sudan.

“We want to keep winning and show our readiness to go all the way.”

I wish you all goodluck….Every striker likes to score goal, you see, this is why I believe coach Eguavoen that we miss Osimen and Odion who like scoring goals…. Anyway, Yinkus has an opportunity to prove himself today.

  • Possible lineup: UZOHO, EBUEHI, EKONG, SEMI, COLLINS, NDIDI, NWAKALI, IWOBI, CHIDERA, IHEANACHO, OLAYINKA

  • Good luck Olayinka; score a hattrick for us. Pls if Semi Ajayi is starting, let him be more rugged and tough at the centre.
Semi is always too soft such that tough attackers easily bully him at the back to score goals. He could not handle Mane last season at the EPL.
Semi Ajayi work on your physicality, this is AFCON. All the best SE!

Since there is another Afcon in the summer of 2023 how is the qualification process going to be and with the Worldcup coming up later in the year…..Does anyone have a clue?

The draw for the AFCON 2023 qualifiers will be held alongside the World Cup playoffs on Friday.

Don’t stress yourself about that. Let CAF do the thinking, that’s what they are paid to do.

    • I think they might employ similar formular to the one adopted between the 2012 and 2013 Afcon installments.

Thank you…..Caf and their decisions shall. How can you come up with play off draws in the middle of an important competition. This might cause a distraction.

Its about time we invite the former Man city and fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo. I have watched him play, that guy is sound technically, physically and he is young too. He will be a massive addition to our backline. Just a suggestion.
