Ole Key To De Gea New Deal

Manchester United’s hopes of securing David De Gea to a long-term deal have been boosted following the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Spain international put in another outstanding display between the sticks as United beat Tottenham 1-0 at Wembley on Sunday, Ole Solskjaer’s sixth win on the bounce since taking charge on an interim basis.

Talk over De Gea’s United future is sure to intensify in the coming days after Sunday’s heroics, with his deal is due to expire next summer – after the activation of a one-year extension clause.

It is understood talks are ongoing and the 28-year-old certainly seems happy at the club under caretaker boss Solskjaer, and that could prove to be crucial.

“He brings happiness, the players are playing very well,” De Gea told Sky Sports. “The team is strong now, very strong. “We know how to control the games, how to keep the ball, how to create chances, and that’s very good for us. This is the real Manchester United.”

De Gea’s words will also add weight to the argument that Solskjaer should be given the job on a permanent basis if United to continue on the same path since his arrival.
