Cup holders Nigeria will look to secure a place in the semi-final when they take on South Africa today (Friday) in their final Group B game at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, reports Completesports.com.
The Olympic Eagles started their campaign on a disappointing note going down to a 1-0 defeat against Cote d’l voire but they rallied back to beat Zambia 3-1 in the second game on Tuesday.
The group still wide open after two round of matches all four teams have a chance to still make it to the knockout rounds of the competition.
South Africa are top of the standings on four points, Nigeria second after a 3-1 win over Zambia, while Cote d’Ivoire also have three points.
Zambia are bottom of the group with a point, but they could still qualify if they beat Cote d’Ivoire tonight and Nigeria lose to South Africa.
Hosts Egypt and Ghana have already qualified for the semifinals from Group A.
