Omeruo Pulls Out Super Eagles’ Friendly Vs Ukraine Over Work Permit Demands

Kenneth Omeruo has pulled out of Nigeria’s friendly encounter against Ukraine at the Dnipro Arena on September 10, reports Completesports.com.

According to a competent source, Omeruo is currently processing his work permit in Spain hence the need for him to pull out of the international friendly match and concentrate on playing more Laliga games.

The centre-back who joined Leganes on a permanent contract from Chelsea last month has made two league appearances for the club this season.

He is the second player to pull out of the game after Wilfred Ndidi who was ruled out as a result of a minor hamstring injury.

The Leicester City midfielder had since been replaced by PAOK of Greece midfielder, Anderson Esiti by head coach of the team, Gernot Rohr.

Rohr has also added Locomotiv Moscow defender Bryan Idowu to the squad for the game.

It remain ls to be seen if Rohr will name a replacement for Omeruo ahead of the game.

  • Omeruo’s unavailability for the September friendly against Ukraine should afford fans the opportunity of seeing how someone like Semi Ajayi can pair up with Ekong in the heart of the Super Eagles defence.

The Wes Brom man has been ever present in Slavan Billic’s squad this season who along with Kylie Bartley in the heart of their defence have struggled to keep clean sheets.

That said, their overall positive performances have led to their lofty position in the league table as they are currently 4th (with Etebo’s stoke currently bottom of the league).

“omerou u did it deliberately cos u know u r not good enough dat some one might take ur place,u can’t tell us that you don’t know d due date for ur work permit”………….so absenting himself from the national team would have made him keep his place…???
Omeruo isn’t good enough but his club fought tooth and nail to sign him after his loan deal abi???. LMAO.

It is common sense to rest majority of the players who played in AFCON, Senegal did same.

  • Oh my brother@ Presh,it’s COMMON SENSE. Ndidi now has his rest,Omeruo follow suit, get your work permit.
This coach ehn…..e own dey im body o.I can’t recall again if Iwobi is in the team list.Even Iwobi ought to get a much needed rest,he just got to a new team that understands him better and as such that’s advantage to our national team. Rest is needed so he does some extra training with the new club since he arrived there late(deadline day).Common sense.
