Omeruo, Simon Hit 100 Games Apiece For Leganes, Nantes

Super Eagles duo of Kenneth Omeruo and Moses Simon, have both celebrated playing a century of matches each for CD Leganes and Nantes respectively.

Leganes were the sixth club Omeruo joined on loan from Premier League side Chelsea for the 2018/19 season. However, after a satisfactory display, the club decided to sign him on a permanent deal at the end of the season-long loan.

He made his debut for the club in a defeat to Atletico Madrid in 2019, when Leganes were still in the topflight before they got relegated that same season.

With one game left to play in the Segunda division this season, Omeruo has made 18 appearances for the club, scoring one goal and one assist.

Reacting to his 100 matches for his club, Omeruo wrote on social media:

“Honoured to have played my 100th game for CD Leganes. I want to thank the club, the fans and my teammates for helping me through my four seasons in this great club, and most especially, my family for their constant prayers and support.”

Leganes are 12th on the 22-team division two side in Spain.

Moses had a relatively successful campaign with Nantes this term. Like Omeruo, the winger had also joined the French club on loan from Spanish side Levante during the 2019/20 season, before the club signed him on a permanent basis after the campaign.

The forward played his first game for Nantes in the 1-2 victory over Amiens in the French Ligue 1 in a cameo appearance.

He was instrumental to the club lifting the French Cup for the first time in 22 years earlier this month, with a 1-0 victory over Nice at the Stade de France.

It was the only trophy The Yellow House won this campaign and they also finished ninth in the league.

Simon has scored 21 goals for the club and registered 22 assists in three seasons.

The Nigerian was presented with an award by the club to mark the occasion.

The 26-year-old described the achievement as a “great honour”.

“It’s such a great honour to have played 100 games with Nantes. Big thanks to the coaches, technical staff, players and fans for all the love and support. It was a fantastic season and I’m proud to be part of the historical moment of this great club. Allez Nantes,” he wrote on Instagram.
