Omoniwari: Governor Okowa Cup Best Preseason Tourney I’ve Featured In

Rivers United forward, Fortune Omoniwari, has told Completesports.com that the ongoing 2019 Governor Okowa Preseason Cup is the best tournament preparatory to a new season he has participated in.

Omoniwari joined the Pride of Rivers this summer from Kwara United.

He was restored in the Stanley Eguma side’s starting lineup in their matchday three fixture of the Governor Okowa Preseason Cup against Delta Force on Saturday.

And the onetime Heartland striker made all the difference as his brace handed Rivers United a 3-1 win against Delta Force.

“I’m happy to score twice in the game after coming back into the team,” Omoniwari told Completesports.com moments after the match.

“It was a high tempo game and we are happy to have won it.”

The victory gave United a commanding lead in Group A with seven points from three matches.

Omoniwari rates the 10-team preseason tournament as the best he has ever participated and urges the organisers to sustain the current tempo of Okowa Preseason Cup at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

“This is the best preseason tournament I’ve ever participated in since I started playing football – from the organisation, participating teams to quality of play.

“Its good for us as we prepare for the coming league season,” Omoniwari remarked.
