Online Registration For 10km Festac Half Marathon Begins 

Registration for the maiden editon of the annual 10Km Festac half marathon has began in ernest, after the website became operational on Wednesday.

The one day event which is endorsed by the Lagos State Athletics Association, is scheduled for the arts and culture Community in Nigeria, Festac Town on the 2nd of October and is open to male and female athletes in the Country

Organisers of the event Lexicon Communications declared that the response from participants has been quite impressive considering the fact that the website started running during the midweek.

Project manager, Moses Nwanze, informed the media that covid restrictions would affect the number of participants that would be sanctioned to compete in the race.

He declared that competitors who register early would be given concession irrespective of their location in the Country.

According to him equipments needed to conduct a world class event has arrived in the country.

He stated that the technical crew of the state athletics association are poised to host a world class event that the host communty would be proud of.

Competitors at the race would receive medical attention from the state medical team led by  Dr. Bukola Bojuwoye, a seasoned sports medical practioner in Nigeria.

Dr. Bojuwoye who enjoined competitors to prepare properly by training hard said good nutrition is paramount to an athletes performance.

 He said Lagos, is humid  at the moment and athletes were advised to drink a lot of water, wear light clothings and select a comfortable running shoes for the race.

He further enjoined competitors to desist from taking hard substance before the race as this might impede their health and performance level.

Recently, the duo of Emmanuel Amuneke and Chioma Ajunwa became the latest former stars to endorse the 10km  Festac half maratho.

Speaking during the endorsement, Amuneke, said thats it’s great for such event to happen in Festac that is known for producing world class talents for the country.

The Zamalek legend remarked that hopefully the 10km half marathon would serve as a conveyor belt that would churn out quality athletes from Festac and Nigeria in general.

Nigeria’s first Olympic gold medalist Ajunwa, called on the youths to embrace the initiative and be part of the festival of fitness with an opportunity to win a cash prize of two million naira.
