Onuachu Fires Blanks Again In Southampton’s Draw At United As Arsenal Record Historic Win Against Fulham

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu’s search for his first goal in English football continues as he once again failed to score, in Southampton’s 0-0 draw against Manchester United in Sunday’s Premier League match at Old Trafford, Completesports.com reports.

Onuachu came on for his fifth league appearance for Theo Walcott with five minutes left but could not help struggling Southampton secure the win.

The Saints could not capitalise on the numerical advantage they had, despite United playing with a man down after Casemiro was sent off on 34 minutes.

Southampton remain bottom on 22 points while United are third on 50 points in the league table.

And at Craven Cottage, Arsenal re-establish their five points lead over Manchester City after a comfortable 3-0 win against Fulham.

The game saw Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus make his return after long injury lay-off.

First half goals from Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard, saw Arsenal become the first side in English Football League history to win five consecutive London derbies away from home without conceding a goal.

Summer signing Leandro Trossard made the assists for all three of Arsenal’s goals.

Onuachu draws blank my foot. Paul only played 15 minutes and is steadily becoming a feature from the substitutes bench as many of us predicted. Premier League clubs are prepared to spend millions buying successful Nigerian players only to relegate them to the bench after 5 matches. As for injury-hit Awoniyi, it’s beginning to look like he’s going to sit out the rest of the season after a tepid introduction to the PL.

You’re the king of goals in your former club, you left to be a bench warmer somewhere else, you didn’t go to a better club who wanted to give you playing time and opportunity to play in Europe, you rushed to premier League to warm bench… Wehdone blank drawer.

    • Why is nobody talking about Gift Orban of Gent……Even our local media ignore the most talked about teenage forward in Belgium at the moment…..He has taken the league by storm……he walked straight into the first eleven of Gent and has kept the more recognized strikers on the bench since he arrived…….He even scored four goals this afternoon and Complete sports don’t even talk about him??……Other countries concentrate more on their up coming talents and their media always beam the light on them…….Orban is a predator forward player whose finishing reminds me of that of Aguero in his prime……Am so excited about this young talent and I hope our football administration finds him out soon……Orban is not only for the future he is also for the present.

I heard he can also play for Togo ( I’m not sure on this) but that boy is a talent, he reminds me ikechukwu uche back then in the super eagles.. 9 goals in 7 games thats huge.. and another part of his game that got me are his free kicks.. i saw how his team mate didn’t even near the ball, they left it for a new comer to take and he scored it.. that shows he has been hitting lot of free kicks in training.. I don’t think it would be wrong if pesiro invites him for the upcoming games.. he is one hottest strikers at the moment… Another player I’m expecting on the list is akpom, it would be a disaster if his name is omitted.. another player is tella.. there is a Nigerian goalkeeper in swiss league ,osigwe that has been getting game time lately and has been keeping clean sheet.. with the current goalkeeing crisis it would be a disaster if he is not included

        • I hope SE Coach would deem it fit to invite aforementioned players to boost his squad

    • Moffi, Boniface,Akpom,Orban,Tella, iheanochor,Desser, okereke, success,Balogun,Chukwueze,Moses Simon,Lookman,(Awoniyi although injured) Onuachu,If you’re super eagles coach who will you pick among them to join victor

Still in shock that Iwuala is not in your list, lol.
Set of fans have been promoting him for no reason lately without any superb performance in his Arab league. Super Eagles is gradually becoming a real players stuff. Now above the “player is trying “ things.

I doff my hat for the new striking sensation – Gift Orban of Gent in Belgium and Nigeria. I hope the NFF, coach Peseiro and Austin Eguavoen are watching and taken note of this 20 year old phenomenon. He deserves a call up to the Super Eagles. He and Victor Boniface of Union St. Galloise in Belgium will be great additions to the team (and will compliment Victor Osimhen) in a fearful strike force. The super Eagles also need quality midfielders and goalkeepers as these are areas that the team seems to be lacking in depth.

Call this call that haha…Peseiro can only invite 4 strikers and we know our lead striker to be Victor Osimhen then the likes of Iheanacho,Moffi and probably a new addition.
In the wings we have Moses,Chukwueze,Lookman and Olayinka.
Where i’m worried is the midfield we don’t follow the Greek league to have an update on Etebo.Ndidi is out of form,Aribo doesn’t make the match day squad for his team we have one returning from injury and a couple others sidelined with injuries we’re in a mess in that department and that should be a worry for all super eagles fans.

    • It’s not a matter to make fun with my dear friend…….In Europe national team call ups are for players who are on extraordinary form in the current season…….Even if there are 10 players in that position it doesn’t stop a national team from integrating an exceptional talent who many are saying might be a generational talent into it’s team…….We must stop this “who will he bench” mentality if SE will be great again……There is no rule in football that says a player must be able to bench other player before he can be added to a sqard……All I know is that SE’s glory lies in the future and not the past…… Upcoming talents must be taken seriously if we want to bring back our glory.

@AKp,but you cannot build when you keep inviting lots of new players it deranges a team.
For now one new striker may come in though it’s up to the gaffer to make that call.Either Tella or Olayinka may get an invite to complete our wing quartet, others are Lookman,Chukwueze and Simon.
Building a team takes gradual process.
Any player coming in must be better than one already in the team.
During friendlies coaches have the luxury of testing more players,i’m sure we would have a few windows to try new players after the playoffs or should we win our next games against Guinea Bissau the gaffer should try out new players in our last couple of playoffs in Freetown and Abuja respectively which are more or less inconsequential.

        • There is no way we can have 23 players constantly doing well and staying injury free to mentain a team……if a core of 15 old squad members who are super fit and consistent in their clubs side is mentained then the other 8 positions should be for exceptional talents who have broken out in the current season……If we go by your logic of keeping a team no matter the form of the players then we will end up selecting mostly unfit and inactive players all in the name of keeping the team intact.

          • Greenturf 1 year ago

@AKp,8 players is a lot to be bring into a national team when you barely have 4 days of training sessions to a game unless in a friendly or camping exercise prior to a major tournament when teams have a few weeks to strategise before the kickoff.
I don’t think you’re reading my posts properly to comprehend what i was putting across.I never campaigned for unfit players who are either crocked or out of form rather i was on about members of the team who are a core and in good form, you can’t discard these players unless there’s someone in better form to stake a claim.
On official games like one we are having in a couple of weeks,we are not going to have many new players have that in mind so you’re not disappointed or gutted when the list is made public hopefully in a few days.
We are used to criticizing coaches even when they are doing a great job but the truth is we are not that great as we think another fact is most smaller nations have risen in size so it’s not business as usual.
