Onuachu Replaces Injured Simon For Sierra Leone Games

Genk forward Paul Onuachu has been called up as replacement for the injured Moses Simon in Nigeria’s squad for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Sierra Leone, Completesports.com reports.

Simon picked up an injury in Nantes’ 3-0 home defeat to Paris- Saint Germain last Saturday.

The winger featured for 25 minutes in the encounter before he was substituted.

“@NGSuperEagles update: Paul Onuachu has been called up as replacement for injured @Simon27Moses #SoarSuperEagles #Team9jaStrong,”reads a tweet on the official Twitter handle of the Nigeria Football Federation.

Onuachu was part of Nigeria’s squad for last month’s friendlies against African champions Algeria and the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.

He was named as replacement for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen for the friendlies.

The 26-year-old has scored nine goals in 10 league appearances for Genk this season.

The Super Eagles will keep a date with the Leone Stars on Friday, November 13 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

The reverse fixture will take place four days later at the Siaka Stevens Stadium, Freetown.

… Paulo carry go. A lot of fans go vex untop this matter now but most are not seeing that so-called ex-factors who are supposed to be working with you are working for themselves. Now our goal saviour Victor Osimhen is receiving same treatment at Napoli and even Gattuso is not happy about it. Some people don’t know a lot of players like praises so much they forget their primary roles in the team sport of football. You are a winger but your aim is win applaus from fans and you hug balls and dribble to the detriment of your team… But it’s the target man who is starved of quality balls we must hang and crucify… Paulo no mind them! Do your thing… Person wey the let him goals speak them go say him no fit style… Person wey dey league wey no be Europe but very competitive the play week-in week-out with clear top quality them go say him dey stuck for league wey no count… The many albatross of Nigerian Super Eagles Fan-Coaches! Paulo continue to give them headache make them the curse… I dey your back!

Do you believe now that it is a season film?
This is quite interesting and fun to watch lolz. Why Onuachu again? This Onuachu is a great striker but Oga Rohr does not know how to use the lanky striker so, why calling Onuachu back into the team?

I don’t think Oga Rohr is a coach or he’s good enough to know what to do. An average coach can not go beyond his limits.

I think if you are still expecting much from the current Super Eagles coaches, you better have a rethink and limit your expectations.

Onuachu can not do anything in Oga Rohr’s team period.

Same thing may apply to Osimeh. Only striker that I think can manage to score goals in Oga Rohr’s team is “Dessers” but unfortunately Oga Rohr is systematically dropped him for no reason. It is well. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • @Omo9ja….

      Sword with 2 edges…..

      Which way?

Formally u were advocating for ONUACHU, now DESSERS….

      Rohr have come again ooh!!
Hmm, if I say that you are a defensive coach a.k.a HPE teacher  your boys will come for my head.

Calling onuachu up is not the problem but how to utilize him is the issue.

You have enough forward players while lacking in the midfield? Why not call a midfielder?

It’s obvious oga Rohr has nothing more  to offer us again, always doing the same thing over and over  while expecting a different result. For me that’s not normal.

    • Behold Omo9ja has spoken!

.just wanna advise you. Be checking your BP once in a while. Rohr is still very much around and his presence might be big problem for you and your goons.
      Ire o!

  • @Omo9ja…..

    Which way na?

B4 u were advocating for ONUACHU, he failed and now u want DESSERS just to cover ur shame….
We know this things…. No need of all this panky yanky u are trying to play….

    Be on one side….

Are u for ONUACHU or DESSERS?

  • Collins id 3 years ago

i think Rohr need a psychologist to observe his mental stat. he doesn’t seems normal to me, this is a player he have given enough game time without any result or even small promis nor dey. apart from the voley he scored against Egypt he havnt been able to do anything, why is Rohr still calling him? very abnormal decision, you can’t win afcon with this kind of funny decisions; why not nwakali or recall tijani knowing we lack numbers in the midfield, if it must be a striker why not maja that can also play as a supporting striker given u option of a 442 formation that could see maja osihmen, maja iheanacho, iheanacho osihmen. onuachu is not for eagles you can’t impose him on us. even the ajayi amunike advocated for is by far a better option to your gentle giant uche onuachu okechuku the defensive striker replacing our injured defensive winger moses Simon okparaku . I hope you will update this your ideas before the major tournament. i wish eagles victory in both games don’t come with any long story oh.

    • @Collins Id….

Were u no among the likes of @Omo9ja and co that were crying, wailing, weeping, gnashing their teeth, grumbling, mourning, sorrowing, advocating, pleading begging for ROHR to invites PAUL ARISTEDE BANCE ONUACHU?

      Why rejecting him now?

PAUL ARISTEDE BANCE ONUACHU has come to stay as far as ROHR is concern….

When u were yerning for him to be invited didn’t u think ROHR will invites him?

Whether u like it or not, whether PAUL ARISTEDE BANCE ONUACHU scores or not, whether PMB likes it or not; PAUL ARISTEDEBANCE ONUACHU is a NIGERIAN and deserves a place in the national team let this sink deep into ur brain…..

Rohr has his own style of play which every player must adjust to….. Onuachu will one day adjust to it…..

Pls for ur health, u can be taking plenty of water to reduce ur BP since it’s ascending….. Bcos as a matter of fact, 2022 is still very far….
But for the main time Rohr would continue to do things the way he want and feels suitable for him….
      Tankiu…..

@Collins id… Does Rohr not have the right to do what he likes and we must respect his choices and opinions again? Hahahaha… I am laughing in Ibibio!

  • Kingston 3 years ago

@collins, I was agreeing with what you were saying until “onuachu is not for eagles you can’t impose him on us”. Rohr has the right to impose anything he wants at super eagles. everybody in Nigeria is a good analyst that’s why nff employed a coach to have the final say.
anyway, I wish super eagles the best!

  • onwajunior 3 years ago

I may be wrong, but, I don’t think this is Rohr’s doing. My feeling is that NFF has started activating the conditions on Rohr’s contract i.e. tampering with invitations.

  • Collins id 3 years ago

there was never a time I called for unuachu maybe you are mistaking me for another. though I supported his initial invitations but as we can all see the guy didn’t show up as expected why must we continue to invite him when we have better options? @jimmy, I am never in the opinion of respecting coaches decisions without objectivity , though their decision must always stand, but it never stands alone without questions and analysis which is always part of the game maybe you too are mistaken me for another furumite, yes I always demand us to respect our deffer opinions based on the fact that we are just fans. but as for players or coaches they are paid to make us happy and we all have rights to complain if we feel any type of dissatisfaction, infact in the real sense we are the boss here and they and the entire Nff members including peakmilk are our staffs they must be open to questions and criticism it is part of their professional contract. if not we should also respect the keeper opinion if he desides to score own goal, respect opinion ke, even guadiola faults him self for man city champions league failures after series of criticism from other football experts. we as fans can always disagree with eachother without insults just as the professionals are not expected to openly criticise each others, as for you @UBFE you must not swallow panadol for Rohrs headache his salary is enough to buy him enough panadol, he is paid for his job with part of my money, as far as I am able to support my national team I will always question, support, and criticise any decision making surrounding the team depending on the decision, it’s my right, I have always done it before Rohr and I will continue even after Rohr, without disrespect just get use to it bro, we are not sheaps or cattles who just follow.

zmeanwhile Chukwueze opens the scoring for Villareal with a beautiful goal. That’s what he needs to do more of. Get into the box and release the ball timely. Great game solar

  • De Star 3 years ago

@Onwajunior , please don’t bring that sentiment in, does a coach that knows his technical ability allowed any player forced on him perpetually without justification ?

It is normal to accept recommendation from technical back room staff , Football federation , football fans even among players themselves ( Messi does it in Bacca , Ronaldo does it at Jeventus , Rasheed Yekini did it with the No Nonsense Westerhof and against dominiaring Keshi who never wanted Chidi Nwanu in SE so as to guarantee his position in the team but Yekini voiced out Westerhof bowed, Nwanu came in he did not only added valued to the team but he displayed captain of the team “the almighty Keshi “ of his position as Nwanu was marvellous in his first 90 minutes opportunity on the pitch ), one would have expected a coach to drop outright a player that does not fit into your style of coaching’s techniques without ingenuity to version out a good formation that can bring out the best from the player with the player himself not being able to justify his merit to continue to be in the team, a player that was given all the chance in this world in a tournament but failed , called in again and performed woefully yet , you continue to stick with him on any available opportunity or feeble excuses but you failed to give other good players ample opportunity in the team but cameo appearance of 10 minutes  even as shameful as 2 minutes and you expect such players to be evaluated in the team .

It is the duty of a good coach to come up with a style of play to bring out the best in a quality player and for a quality player to also adapt to the formation of his coach ( can anyone compare Mikel attacking midfield role anytime under Siasia ? Very awesome). May be Rohr expect Onauchu to score one goal in as many matches to justify his continue invitation .

The problem with Rohr is naturally, he does not like much any skilful players , would rather believe in kick-and follow football, that is why an utility and skilful players like Ola Aina would sat throughout two matches without kicking ball . A good coach great team would prefer a skilful players that can make use mostly his brain , that is why today if you are not skilful with talent you cannot play for Barcelona, for Pep of Mancity , Arsenal.

I just hope anyone who continue to dream Rohr’s team as it is can win African nation cup should better not raise their hope high, otherwise, they should have High Blood pressure drug always available in their bed room

@Goal and @Collins id , I cannot agreed less with your submission

  • Ayphillydegreat 3 years ago

@De Star. Why are you complaining now?? Shebi you and your cohorts agreed that the clause should be activated so that the gaffer will not have the sole autonomy on team selection. If the NFF impose a player on him is that not part of the clause? Which you were even happy that it’s been implemented why complaining now??

Your notion that Rohr doesn’t like skillful players is quite laughable. Why is Dennis on the list?? Is he not a skillful player, Chukwueze is not a skillful player abi? Iwobi nkọ? So all the assists he provides are from kick and follow?? Lmao!! Etebo that equaled JayJays record of the most dribbles completed by a player in a WorldCup match is a defender abi?? You’re not at the camp in close quarters with the gaffer and his players so you can’t just assume that he doesn’t like skillful players. Or Aribo whom he brought in to the midfield is not skillful too??

If you already knew we can’t win the AFCON then you don’t need to waste your time following these team. We will cross the bridge when we get there. Win or no win SuperEagles will always make hay at any AFCON they participated. How many goals did Mikel score under Siasia playing as an attacking midfielder??  It is on record that Mikel scored most of his goals in a SuperEagles shirt under Rohr. Go and check the facts. It is you and your cohorts who thinks we have players in Madrid, Barca, Juve, Liverpool, Man City and the likes expecting him to win the WorldCup. Lmao!! Which WorldCup??

The fact remains that these SuperEagles is still evolving. We know they’ve acquired some experience playing in a WorldCup and an AFCON claiming Bronze in a 24 team tournament. In a 16 team tournament we will be playing in the final at least. We also know that we’re on the verge of qualifying for a third straight tournament and we’ve even forgot how to use a calculator since 2016. Don’t worry underestimate these SuperEagles at your own peril.

Hahahahaha….thank you for bursting all his lies….LMAO. I dont understand how a man can exist and NVER be able to say one word of truth in a lifetime….LMAO.
He has forgotten when their 4/5 = 90% demands were granted to them by the NFF and they wey singing and dancing for joy here on CSN…LMAO. Now they are beginning to drink of their own poison 1 by 1. The other day his 2nd in command was writing SOS letter to CSN as if it was CSN that drafted the evil contract, or as if the NFF reports to CSN….LMAO. Pls help me ask him what was the end result of the attacking midfield role mikel played under siasia……..not qualifying for ordinary AFCON in 2 attempts….LMAO.

Rohr likes kick and follow players like osimhen, chukweze, samuel kalu, iwobi, aribo and the rest, that is why most of our goals come from balls played on the ground and worked into the opponents penalty area….LMAO….if that is not kick and follow, i wonder what else is…LMAO.

Shey dem say Rohr is being given conducive environment and has never been owed salary even for one day….LMAO…reports has it that the team has not been paid bonuses since last AFCON (and we are almost qualifying for another one now). If bonuses have not been paid, I bet salaries too are not up to date…….. Rohr is indeed working in a conducive environment which their guadiolas with all the experienced players they had at their disposal then didnt get….LMAO.

Lies may run for donkey years, only one day will it take for truth and vindication to catchup….we are now having reasons to question callups now, more than ever in this regime, since a new contract that practically cedes authority of callups on the NFF was signed…..it is not a mere coincidence. The people who rolled out drums back then to celebrate the despicable show of shame are now the chief mourners now…..LMAO…dem never start, dem go mourn till 2022.

The coach (abi na NFF) has spoken, Onuachu has been invited again, against the wish of many including me (….Onuachu must either be the luckiest Nigerian player ever or Rohr must be the most patient coach on earth…..) anybody wey nor like am make e go jump inside well.

  • Greenturf 3 years ago

Onuachu is the most prolific Nigerian number 9 in Europe thus far prompting the decision of getting invite despite having disappointing output in his last games for the super eagles.

The gaffer is not happy with his performances the reason he wasn’t in the original list but fortune always has smiled on him.Besides Rohr likes his players big and he probably sees potential in this languid playing super eagle in training but get let down repeatedly in matches.

However,I do not see changes from how he has turned out for games in super eagles colours because he is not the fastest and super eagles strikers that have exceled in the past are usually mobile.

  • Collins id 3 years ago

abegiiiii enough of all this abadabidi supporting style, since it’s against your wish too you can jump into hell first. I don’t want to talk much over Rohr selections but any babalawo somewhere in Nigeria villages calling the name of Rohr with calabash in respect of players selection! holygooooooooost fire.

  • De Star 3 years ago

@Ayphillidegreat ….. I beg if Na joke make u stop am ooo , Etebo equalling JJ Ockocha most dribbled completed in WC !!! Haba , take it softly , comparing bow bicycle with car , comparing Manu with Rangers of Enugu ….. short of words

  • Ayphillydegreat 3 years ago

@De Star. Lol!! All you have to do is consult google or opta. I don’t need to joke about what I saw with my own eyes. It is on record that Etebo completed 9 dribbles in Nigeria’s 2-0 loss to Croatia at the 2018 WorldCup. Equaling JayJays completed dribbles against Italy in 1994. I stand to be corrected with verifiable facts.

Though I think Jay-Jay might have more take-ons in that match because in my opinion that match remains his greatest performance in a SuperEagles Jersey or perhaps the greatest individual performance by an African player in a WorldCup match. Another one was the game against Denmark in 1998 of which on both occasions including the one of Etebo we lost all three games. So the question remains where does all the skillfulness take us. Therefore,  a pragmatic Etebo, Iwobi and Aribo with the ability to take on players is what we have in the present SuperEagles. If you’re looking for a Maradona then you tell me.

Eden Hazard completed 10 dribbles against Brazil in the Quarterfinals to break the record of the most dribbles completed by a player in a WorldCup match. In terms of skills you can’t take that away from Etebo in the current SuperEagles. A case in point was his mesmerizing movement against Algeria at the U23 AFCON final. Taking the ball from the midfield and bamboozled his way to score 2 goals to win that tournament for Nigeria. After he got injured at the Olympics the team virtually collapsed.

You’re making some serious arguments until you messed the whole thing up that Rohr doesn’t like skillful players and plays kick and follow football. Very laughable!! Like seriously!!! Are you kidding me??? That tells me you’re talking with emotional sentiments. You see we all know that Rohr has his own flaws, but in terms of selecting players on form and merit you can only argue with the moon on that one. The job of the gaffer is to identify the most inform players he feels can help his team to prosecute a qualifier. It’s now up to the player to take advantage of his opportunity. Even though up till this moment Onuachu hasn’t take his chances, but you can’t fault the fact that he’s Nigeria’s most inform striker in Europe at the moment.
