Onyekuru Wants Galatasaray Return, Turns Down CSKA, Locomotiv Moscow

Nigeria forward Henry Onyekuru has turned down overtures from Russian giants, CSKA Moscow and Locomotiv Moscow, preferring a loan return to Galatasaray of Turkey, Completesports.com reports.

Onyekuru has struggled for regular playing time at French Ligue 1 club, Monaco this season following his summer arrival, from Everton.

The versatile forward has made four league appearances for the principality club and is down the pecking order with the trio of Wissam Ben Yedder , Islam Slimani and Gelson Martin coach Leonardo Jardim’s preferred choices in attack.

Monaco are reportdely willing to allow the former Anderlecht striker leave on loan for a fee around €2.5m.

CSKA Moscow and Locomotiv Moscow, who currently have Nigeria defender Bryan Idowu in their ranks, according to a report in Fanatik.com.tr, have expressed interest in taking Onyekuru on loan in January but the player favours a move to Galatasaray.

Onyekuru spent last season on loan at Galatasaray and scored 14 goals in 31 league appearances for Fathi Terim’s men.

“I will return to my old team (Galatasaray) without thinking. I don’t want to go to Russia ,” he Fanatik.com.tr.

    • Destano 4 years ago

Chima you are a big fool and a total madman for calling Henry onyekuru a over hyped man Henry onyekuru is a super golden Nigeria talent a revolutionary footballer which was born to Nigeria to bless Nigeria his speed dribbling, drives and cleanicality in front of goal his second to none in Nigeria it’s just that he met a madman as a coach who calls himself rohr in the national team who doesn’t always gives him game time but gives players who are not even up to quarter of Henry onyekuru surplus time to spare in the national team, well in many ways rohr is a mad coach shall and I know that, the thing happening to this Nigeria precious talent Henry onyekuru is normal thing which happens to all footballers there is a time where you will be on top of the world as a footballer and there is also a time where you will dip in form to relate that well if I recall this kind time last year he was notching goals and assists in Turkey as he had did previously in Anderlecht even bundlesliga giants Bayern Munich were going all out for him so now all I can say for Henry is that he is dip in form but I know with time he will pick up and will be on top of the world again,

so fools like chima here and others who don’t know about him don’t talk anyhow like a goat or madman just go to google and type his name there then watch his goals and highlights then you will feel very sorry for yourself for insulting a rare gem like Henry onyekuru

Na you help am score all the goals he scored in turkey last season abi.Keep talking without thinking

    • My Broda!!!!!!! That’s an average Nigerian talking bro, wetin you go do naa, Na to just dey look. The way we curse and abuse our players is really very heartbreaking bro I swear down. That’s how we abused Emenike, some even abused his mother etc, he retired because of it. Ighalo wasn’t scoring, they abused the living daylight out of him, called him all sorts of names. I knew he would retire after AFCON. He went on to become the Highest goal scorer and resigned sadly after that, trust me, Ighalo didn’t want to retire, Nigerians and their cursing and abusive mouths made him do so. Bro, I’ll we just love to curse and abuse, it’s in our DNA. But the thing dey weak me.

@Chima, it’s really surprising albeit annoying to read your expression of hate towards a footballer Henry, who is only using his talent to make way for himself, family n others. Brother,he is not a politician looting our treasury. Let’s take it easy with these players please.

Henry is lazy and childish like Kayode I don’t this sort of unserious player who run 100m without end results its simple as that!

@ Chima trust me Onyekuru is a top player. He is only going through a bad patch. Everyone goes through this in life. This is when support is needed. He is still very young remember? I know you want to see him making the headlines. But please we don’t help players confidence by criticising them, like you just did in the public media. Evil people both within and without come here to read n collect information.

  • Henry Onyekuru has had a purple patch in the early seasons of his soccer career with impressive showings with different leagues from Eupen, Anderlecht and Galatasaray where he shone alike a millions stars last seasons winning FA cup and the league cup, making one of the successful SE players season. It was on the strength of these brilliant achievements that Monaco signed and it’s rather unfortunate the way things have turned out to be in less than 6months into the season; and that is football – so unpredictable.

It would be great if he is able to retrace his steps back to Galatasaray where he made a huge success and was much appreciated.

little Henry is a magician with the ball under his feet, gifted with unbelievable speed and incredible goalscoring ability. I consider him one of the most gifted SE forwards even ahead of the likes of Chukwueze and Samuel Kalu, in terms of his goal scoring ability and proficiency in front of goal. His achievements with little known Eupen and the Belgian giant Anderletcht still resonate with admirers of his game and one can only wish such great talent better luck. Not many people remember that the young gangling striker Osimhen went through this limbo in the past while at Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga but had to go on loan at Charleroi to pick up his career and today he is most celebrated Super Eagles player and forward even though as he has not any silverware at club level unlike Onyekuru. The career of the two seems to follow the same trajectory, but i’m quite upbeat that Henry will triumph at the end because he’s destined for greatness; it is just a temporary setback – he has worked really hard to get this far in his career. Out of the blues, he lifted Eupen from the doldrums of 2nd tier division in Belgian and in his first season at the elite division little unknown Henry shocked everyone when he announced himself with 18 league goals, becoming one of the leading scorers in the league drawing the attention of suitors like Everton, who sent him on loan to Anderlecht and later to Galatasaray where he made remarkable successes after two successive seasons, thumping in the goals with eye catching performances, burning the pitches in the Turkey with goals and blistering pace. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE!!!

Empty brain speaking! No need to delve into your shallow mind when you think football is the only well paid career in the world simply because of your mediocre knowledge of life. Forgetting that the top 10 richest men in world are not sportsmen or women. Lol another cheap naija Bhuari scape goat!

I still don’t know his obsession with Galatasaray.

  • Chima E Samuels 4 years ago

I don’t hate Henry let’s get it straight but I don’t like pretenders who play football when you know it’s not your thing. Most of our players are inconsistent that is why we are yet to produces the likes of mane and salah after the Era of Kanu and Jay Jay! How many of our players scores 30goals a season???? Answer all we know is celebrate average players!

      • Mr Hush 4 years ago

        @ Chima

        I can understand your passion
and augur disappointment in Onyekuru, due to the expectations; but I can never understand your attacks on him and others on the personal term.
Granted we all have our preference in players and qualities in see in a player before we call them good, but it never has to get personal. For one, they are brotherly Nigerians, ones we could criticise and draw closer to get better. And on the other hand, they are human beings like you and I;they got feelings too..

If we are going to look at stats. Onyekuru has done well for himself.
In the last two seasons,(for Anderlecht and Galasataray);he has scored over 25 goals in some 50 appearances. This is even after missing over a quarter of a season due to injury.

For the Super Eagles, he has never really being given a chance, some minute here and there, not because of lack of quality, there just other quality players playing similar roles which the coach prefer.

Yes. Everyone wants to play in the top 5 league in the world. We all want to see our Nigerian players in The EPL, La Liga,Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue un; but so do every other person and countries on earth who play football professionally.
It is a jungle out there in the football world and it isn’t easy.

It is even sadder to hear you undermine the Turkish league.
This is a league that is 11th in the UEFA coefficient best leagues. Always has club present in the champions league. Turkey has a nation in football is back in the ascendancy.

Just because you the Turkish league isn’t EPL, doesn’t mean there is no quality there or they don’t play football.

Onyekuru needs a break to get himself back. He won’t be the first to take the Turkish route to build back his confidence.
A certain Babbel from the Netherlands fell off the cliff in liverpool, went to besiktas, built himself and now back as top player for his country.
Same for The Egyptian Trezeguet, who did well in Turkey to earn a move to the EpL.
Even arguably the best defender in Leicester city right now,Soyuncu, had to get some relief from his home town club in Turkey,to earn a move to Freiburg, before the EPL.

Sometimes in life, you have to take a step back to move forward. It is like revising a car,to hit the road and get going again. It doesn’t mean the end.
On the contrary, it takes a man with so much passion and so much belief,to start again.
        Onyekuru would come good.

    @chima,
    Bia Enyia mind ursef ohh

Leave that guy chima he took weed and so everything is opposite to him right now the good becomes bad to him and bad becomes good to him that’s why he is calling Nigeria rare gem Henry onyekuru a lazy footballer a player in which bundlesliga giants Bayern Munich and Italy giants juventus were going for chima I just play your family tie or chain you down right now so you don’t go nuts on a permanent basis cause it will be too bad if you go nuts on a permanent basis

  • Sunnyb 4 years ago

Folks, Chima  doesn’t hate guy, he just want the guy to work harder, kayode, success, Onyekuru, these are players with huge talents, but surprisingly playing below their potentials, I think staying off social media, continue to train harder might help them rediscover their potentials,We can see the improvement in  Aina, Moses and Ekong. In my opinion Turkey is not the right destination for this young man,he should not run away from competing with young players, Turkey is for old and retiring players.
