Oshoala Scores, Bags Assist As Barcelona Thrash Roma, Reach 5th Straight UCL Semi-finals

Asisat Oshoala scored and provided an assist as Barcelona hammered Roma 5-1 on Wednesday to reach a fifth straight UEFA women’s Champions League semi-finals.

Barcelona progressed into the last four 6-1 on aggregate after winning the first leg 1-0 in Italy.

Prior to the second leg tie against Roma, Oshoala had failed to score in her last four outings for Barcelona.

  • Asisat Oshoala has not featured in any of the last 4 friendlies of the Super Falcons. The NFF is ckearly aware that she prefers her club to country. It might prove disastrous at the World Cup in July if she’s unable to blend with the Super Falcons

    • Personally, I think it’s due to ‘injury management’. You see, Oshoala has been in and out of niggling injuries for the past few years. So, I think it makes sense for her to manage the number of games she features.

She was part of the Afcon squad last July (just a few months ago) only to withdraw after just one match due to injury.

I think she should focus on her club commitments for now to enhance her chances of being fit and flying for the world cup.

I have zero faith in Randy Waldrum’s abilities but, if he elects for the more defensive 5-3-2 formation, I might start to believe again.

I think we have players capable of causing major upsets in the world cup with this formation. My killer starting lineup will be:

      Goalkeeper:

      – Nnadozie

      Wingbacks:

      – Payne
      – Alozie

      Centre backs:

      – Plumptre
      – Ohale
      – Demehin

      Defensive midfielder:

      – Ucheibe

      Attacking midfielders:

      – Okobi
      – Ajibade

      Strikers:

      – Onumonu (preferably Kanu)
      – Oshoala
