Osimhen Makes IFTV Serie A Team Of The Week

Victor Osimhen has been included in Italian Football TV (IFTV) Serie A Team of The Week following his inspiring performance which helped SSC Napoli to secure victory on his top-flight debut for the club, Completesports.com reports.

Osimhen was only on for 30 minutes in his debut game for the Partenopei on Sunday when they defeated Parma by two goals to nil in their opening Serie A game of the 2020/21 season.

The Nigerian international came on
to completely change the game for the Partenopei who had struggled to break through the Parma defence in the first 60 minutes of the match.

Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens grabbed one goal each as Napoli were inspired by new signing,
Osimhen’s entrace in the second hali, precisely în the 60th minute against Parma.

Osimhen in action for Napoli against Parma

The IFTV’s first Serie A Team Of The Week (TOTW) in the 2020/2021 season was published only on its social media platforms as its official website is under reconstruction.

Osimhen is the only Napoli player in the Team of The Week. Juventus have three in the selection following their 3-0 win against Sampdoria, namely; Leonardo Bonucci, Dejan Kulusevski, and Aaron Ramsey. Remarkably, their talismanic forward, Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t make the cut despite scoring a goal in the Juve’s win.

AC Milan duo of Davide Calabria and Zlatan Ibramimovic are in the IFTV’s TOTW, while AS Roma also have two players selected – Antonio Mirante and Leonardo Spinazzola. Fiorentina’s Gaetano Biraghi and Cristiano Castrovilli were also selected.

  • Kel, this kid is unbelievable! Actually, I just watched the highlights again of his maiden match and Osimhen was colossal.

Forget being a Super Eagles fan, even neutral observers (or dear I say even sceptical unbelievers) would have given Osimhen a round of applause for such a powerful and productive performance against Parma over the weekend.

Yes he did not score but he could easily have had a hattrick of assists had his team mates being more clinical.

And although he had no assists, he was at the heart of the problems that his team caused the opposition after he came in.

His link up play was glorious and his deliveries were deft. His movements were mesmerising as was his first touches which were often first class.

From what I saw, Osimhen has all the makings to announce himself as one of the top strikers in the world game with performances sure to win critical acclaim from neutral observers.

Imagine, he neither scored nor provided an assist yet he won a place in this team of the week compilation.

    That itself speaks volumes!

    • Yes@deo, I watched the highlights too and saw how his deft and silky moves helped unlock the defence at the edge of the 18″. The boy has matured and is going to be phenomenal. You could see a Drogba in him.

  • Well well Well… it is surprising that, you guys are only noticing this now. even after we have had many debates on this Forum regarding this boy. Had we had more Nigerians Clamouring for him having more game time at the Afcon 2019 and not supporting Rohr’s Stupidity at leaving him out, we may have been siting with a 4th gold star on top our Badge as Super Eagles Fans.

And Please don’t say he only found this “CLASS” now at Napoli or he was learning at the Afcon. This Kid Was turning heads since Sporting Chareloi.

Like I always say Form is Temporary Class is Permanent.

    Good Day Everybody

Victor was a delight to see. Folks, watch the highlight again and you will see a fantastic striker of immense ability like no other in modern day Nigeria football. I wish his gracious parents were alive to see what they have given the World. They will continue to protect their seed from beyond.
