Osimhen, Napoli Teammates Return Home After Training Ground Isolation Over Covid-19 Spike

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen and his teammates at Napoli can return home after their self-isolation period at their training ground came to an end on Tuesday.

The Serie A club’s players were asked to stay at their Castel Volturno training ground after the club was prevented from traveling to honour their matchday-3 Serie A game against Juventus by the local health authority following a surge in Covid-19 cases across Italian sports teams.

As a result, Gennaro Gattuso’s side did not turn up in Turin for the league match on October 4 with a decision on whether Juventus will be given a walkover win expected today (Wednesday).

The Serie A club tweeted on Tuesday night: ‘Following the latest negative test results, the local health authority has given the green light for the group to end its isolation period at the training ground and head home.’

Napoli were set to leave for Turin on Friday, October 2 ahead of the Juventus game but the ASL health board demanded that the players and staff stay in the Campagnia area due to an increase in positive cases across the country.

Genoa who faced Gattuso’s side the weekend before the Juventus side recorded 22 new cases in their squad while Napoli’s Elif Elmas and Piotr Zielinski had tested positive in the week leading up to the fixture.

Juventus themselves announced that two members of staff had coronavirus in the week leading up to the Napoli fixture.

Last year’s Serie A champions turned up to the Allianz Stadium on October 4 as planned and even announced their starting line-up for the fixture, but their opponents did not show up which forced Andrea Pirlo’s side to turn back home.

Osimhen and his teammates face a difficult tie on Saturday against last season’s Champions League quarter-finalists, Atalanta who have three wins from three matches at the start of this current Serie A season.

The Nigeria international who moved to Napoli from Lille of France for a fee of €70m earlier this summer has made an assist in two Serie A appearances for the Partenopei.

    Ugo. Naaaaaaa…

    Let’s put patriotism aside…

    Don’t have such feelings bro.

We are talking about the entire team self isolating…mind you, they did not honour their tie against Juve before the break for same reason…

We can only pray to God to end this pandemic

So Napoli will throw away 3 points just because they dont want players to go on Intl break. SSC Napoli must be in charge of the local health department. When we say baa-sense, they take it as an insult…to read and understand simple english, dem nor sabi

  • when some one says “I have a feeling” it means, I now the facts of what the real situationa and the reasoning/rational put out to public media . I also know that Victor Osimhen tested Negative for Covid 19 before or just after the Algeria game.

I also know that one of their key men Roberto insigne has picked up an Injury against Genoa (game before Juve), that will side line him for a while and, Gennaro Gattuso cannot risk another Injury to any other of his key men especially victor Osimhen, Chucky Lozano, Dries Merthens and Politano and co. Knowing Gattuso’s personality and what happened to Napoli last season the coaches thinking may be to use the opportunity of the spike in Naples to ground his players.

So @Dr Fraud when I say I have a feeling it is a sneaky one because I am aware other underlining factors your block head isn’t but as always like a MAD DOG you must Attack and Bark. chai wonders shall never end, egwuregwu guy

Hahahaha….that “feeling” is only a reflection of your senselessness which is already officially documented and confirmed here.

When the article has stated IN CLEAR TERMS ALL THE CIRCUSTANCES the circumstances surrounding and relating to the issue in Black and White, and with the 14 days recommendation for quarantine being even well known to a 4yr old child, and today being 14 days already, if not bcos you are just plain stupid, your commonsense would have allayed such imbecilic feelings…..Alas, if wishes were horses, beggars will ride. Wishing you will one day have some sense even if it not greater in magnitude than that of a chihuahua is like wishing the Atlantic ocean can empty itself into sahara desert.
