Osimhen Targets AFCON Title With Super Eagles

Victor Osimhen says the quality of players in the Super Eagles put the team in good stead to challenge for Africa Cup of Nations title in Cameroon next year, reports Completesports.com.

The Super Eagles last won the competition eight years ago in South Africa.

The West Africans failed to qualify for the 2015 and 2017 editions before claiming bronze two years ago in Egypt.

“I think we’ve got everything we need to win the next Afcon and to go even more further to qualify for the World Cup. Because this is a squad that has extremely wonderful talent in this team the from the goalkeepers to the strikers, from the strikers to the bench,” Osimhen told ESPN.

“Also, of course, we have a very good coach and technical staff that can prepare us well for each game as it comes. And I think for us we have individual players who can individually win games for us. The likes of Kelechi, Samuel Chukwueze, Alex Iwobi, myself, Paul and rest of the of the squad.

“And I know of course, that a lot is being expected from this team regardless of the fact that we’re young. I think with what we got on our side we can really go far as well as winning the Afcon.”

Good intention from Osimhen, but wants good prepration, players must be in good form in thier clubs, without any injury, the coach Rhor must play with depth, orgnized ball with pressing from the defence to the forward, making good and proper recoveries at defensive midfield and back line in order to protect the goalkeeping, depend on set-pieces and counter attact versus the rival in order to score more goals by example Osimhen ,Onauchu,Simy Nwsnkwo , Sadiq Umar or Iheanachu,if Super Eagels do these tactics ,they will really win this cup…

It is good to have good ambitious to win something bigger but on the other hand, are the other players in the team all already to do the same thing?

    How about the technical crew?

What went wrong in the last Afcon?

The squad we took to the last Afcon wasn’t good enough or the coach?

Why the squad failed to win the Afcon trophy?

Between that team and the current one, which one is the best and why did they settle for the Bronze medals?

We have to think deep to figure out what went wrong in that tournament.

I won’t be deceived to say we have the team that can win the trophy in Cameroon because the team before the current one was strong enough to win that Afcon trophy but failed to do so.

I won’t discouraged you Osimhen but we have to be honest with ourselves. We have the squad no doubt but we don’t have the technical crew that can get the job done Shikena. Good luck Eagles. God bless Nigeria!!!

    Omo yari kanle!
Omo yi, gba fun oga eh Rohr.
At this rate, you will soon blame Rohr for Boko Haram. Or even, blame him for Brexit and global warming 🙂
You say we settled for bronze medal, as if na dash dem dash us the medal.
No, we didn’t settle for the medal. WE WON IT. We had to defeat a strong Tunisia to win it.
The other teams that came to Afcon that year didn’t come to sell groundnut. They are also very good. Afcon was, is, and will never be our birthright! Or anyone’s birthright, for that matter! If we invite Brazil to play Afcon next year, Brazil is not guaranteed the trophy at all! Same with Belgium, Germany, England, Portugal, Spain, current world champions France. All these global giants are not guaranteed the cup if they were allowed to contest it. So why is the expectation for Nigeria different? You guys expect Nigeria to win everything, everytime! And when we do win something, because your expectations are so high, you don’t recognize the achievement.
We will likely win the Afcon next year. But if we don’t win it, it’s not because the coach or the players are not good. They may do their best and still fall short. This is football. Victory is never guaranteed.

Victor Osigoal is the right player the Nation needs now and at all time. A pretty look at all human developments, you become whatever you projects. You will never attain any set objective if you entertain any doubt yourself. At least, respect the young man by keeping mute until the set event takes place. Look where is at 22. If that don’t tell you something, l don’t know what will.

  • Osimhen scores another goal against lazio tonight. He is getting the goals, just need players in Napoli to play with him and pass him the ball more.
