Pakistan Star A World Cup Doubt After Blow

Pakistan batsman Imam-ul-Haq is an injury doubt for the World Cup after being forced to retire hurt in the fourth ODI against England.

The in-form opener, who hit 151 in a losing cause as England went 2-0 up in the five-match limited overs series on Tuesday at Bristol, was struck on the elbow by a delivery from England fast bowler Mark Wood in the fourth over of the match at Trent Bridge.

He immediately hopped away from the crease and collapsed on the ground in what appeared to be intense discomfort from the pacy blow.

After receiving treatment beside the pitch, the 23-year-old eventually retired hurt for three with his team on 9-0. Pakistan subsequently confirmed that Imam had gone to hospital to have an X-ray on his arm.
