Palmieri To Stay With Chelsea

Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri says he does not want to follow Maurizio Sarri to Juventus. The Brazilian born left-back started last season as the second choice behind Marcos Alonso and was only ever figuring in cup competitions.

He was linked with a move to Juventus in January but stayed to fight for a place in the team and towards the end managed as the left-back slot ended up being shared between him and Alonso. He played 27 times in all competitions for the Blues, compared with just seven the previous season under Antonio Conte.

Reports in Italy suggest Sarri has already identified Emerson and Gonzalo Higuain as two key recruits as he prepares to take charge of Juventus back in his homeland. However, the 24-year-old, who has four caps for Italy, says his focus is on Chelsea and does not see a move materialising. In an interview with ESPN Brasil, he said: “Me at Juve with Sarri? I am happy here, I have not received any calls and I am focused on Chelsea.”
