Nigeria’s table tennis star, Olajide Omotayo, lost to Iran’s Noshad Alamiyan 4-1 in the Round of 64 of the Paris 2024 Olympics men’s table tennis singles event.
Omotayo’s loss marks the end of his glory hint in the table tennis singles event of Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Nigerian ping-pong star, who lost in the first round during his debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, began his quest with a strong performance in the first set.
However, in a twist of events, Omotayo was overpowered by Alamiyan, who won the next two sets convincingly, earning every point in the final two sets.
Attention will now shift to Aruna Quadri, who is scheduled to face Romania’s Eduard Ionescu at 9:15 pm tonight.
Additionally, Nigerian duo Offiong Edem and Fatimo Bello will be in action on Sunday and Monday, respectively, in the women’s singles event.
Edem will face Brazil’s Bruna Takahashi at 9:00 pm on Sunday, while debutant Bello will compete against France’s Jia Nan Yuan at 9:00 am on Monday.
