Ghanaian star Thomas Partey says he is determined to help Arsenal return to the UEFA Champions League because that is where they belong.
Partey is currently competing in the Europa League with Arsenal as they face Olympiacos in the Round of 16 on Thursday.
Before joining the Gunners Partey was regular with Atletico Madrid in the Champions and featured in the 2016 final which they lost to Real Madrid.
Arsenal are in danger of missing out on the Champions League for the fifth consecutive season as they currently 10th on the league table.
And the 27-year old believes Arsenal remain a club that is supposed to be competing in Europe’s elite club competition.
“We know it is a club that is supposed to be in the Champions League,” the 27-year-old said.
“It is a bad situation that we are in now, but it depends on us. We are the ones playing, we have this opportunity, we have to try and make this season better.
“Before we can get to where we want, we have to try and be able to win all the games.”
He said Arsenal can make a return to the Champions League if they set their target on winning the Europa League this season.
“It is very important,” he replied when asked how important winning the Europa League has become.
“It (Champions League football) attracts a lot of good players, it shows your profile also to the world, what you can do outside of the league.
“And I think it is very important for the club, for the supporters, for all the people that are in the club – because this club belongs to the Champions League.
“We have to do our best, all that we can, to fight to get where we want.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
