Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey, has received a chieftaincy title from his ancestral people of Manya Krobo – a Municipal District in Ghana’s Eastern Region – for an “outstanding team leadership and astonishing performance” with which he led the Black Stars to beat Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the decisive 2022 FIFA World Cup African qualifying playoff round, Completesports.com reports.
Partey’s home town, Krobo Odumase, is located in Manya Krobo District. He was invited for the Chieftaincy title coronation by the District’s traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty, Nene Sakite II, also for promoting the image of his home people and well-being with his football talent and Partey Foundation.
In the absence of Andre Agew, Partey was Ghana stand-in captain when the Black Stars played Nigeria in the two-legged 2022 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers play-off fixture.

The first leg in Kumasi ended 0-0, then Partey emerged as the heroic captain after his goal earned Ghana a decisive 1-1 draw in Abuja, enough to beat Nigeria to the Qatar 2022 ticket at stake, through an away goal rule.

As the Black Stars prepare for their fourth FIFA World Cup appearance at Qatar 2022 where they will face Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea in Group H, Partey’s ancestral home people of Manya Krobo invited him for a coronation of Chieftaincy title of ‘Mahefalor’ [Defender of Krobo land], on Friday, June 3 2022.
“In recognition of your outstanding team leadership and your astonishing performance on March 29, 2022 as midfilder and Captain of the Ghana Black Stars to win against our neighbour Nigeria to qualify our National Team for the World Cup in Qatar 2022,” reads the citation for Partey’s chieftaincy title.
“ln view of your devotion to your profession and commitments to Ghana/the people of Manya Krobo and indeed His Royal Majesty Nene Sakite Il bestow on you the
enviable title of MAHEFALOR, the defender of the state, this day June 3, 2022 at Konor Wem, Odumase-Krobo.

OKLIBONE”.
The large framed chieftaincy award certificate presented to Partey was duly signed by His Royal Majesty, Nene Sakite II – Konor of Manya Krobo and the President, GhanaianEastern Reglonal House of Chiefs.
