Pellegrini Setting Lofty Targets

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini insists his side need to be aiming for the top six next season under his stewardship.

After a shaky start to life at the London Stadium, Pellegrini has now steadied the ship at the east London club. The Hammers have only won one of their last five Premier League games but they remain 10th with 10 games to go.

The top six are now too far away to challenge but the Chilean insists his team need to learn their lessons ready for a push next season.

“We are not looking for next season in this moment because we need to finish this season,” Pellegrini told reporters.

“After that we must evaluate what we have done during the whole year, start thinking about the new players.

“The next step is to try to bring in the most amount of young players that we can so we continue having a very good young development squad, and after that to try to reach the top six in the Premier League.

“It will not be easy. Also we need to continue improving our training ground, and having behind us the support of 60,000 fans.”
