Perez Explains Lack Of Test Miles

Racing Point driver Sergio Perez says the team are not doing as much testing as planned due a shortage of car parts.

The team only notched up 248 laps between driver pair Perez and Lance Stroll, the second lowest tally on the grid behind Williams, who missed the first two days of testing in Catalonia altogether.

However, Perez is not alarmed by the team’s choice, saying it is necessary to limit the mileage due to a lack of spare parts for the cars.

He is confident the upgrade package set to debut in the first race at Albert Park, Melbourne in a month’s time will show the team have made good progress in the off-season.

Perez said: “Right now you’re going to see low mileage from us, simply because we’re short on parts, we don’t want to risk it too much.

“The most important for us is to understand what’s going on with the balance, how we can make it better, how I can be more comfortable. I think on that regard we did good progress.”
