Second assistant coach of the Super Eagles Salisu Yusuf has described new head coach Jose Peseiro as a top professional who they enjoy working with.
Peseiro was appointed the new Eagles head coach and took charge of his first game against Mexico which ended in a 2-1 defeat.
And despite just one game in charge, Yusuf spoke highly of the new head coach and the input of the assistant coaches against Mexico.
“It’s been great working with him,” Yusuf told NFF TV. “Before we resumed I had like two phone conversation with him concerning the list, concerning some players. He asked about the criteria of the home-based players I told him and he really appreciated it. He’s a top professional and we enjoy working with him.”

On the defeat against Mexico, Yusuf said:”The first game was really tough both the first and second half. Everybody analysed the game to him and he agreed to all our suggestions and we made changes on the system we played. And you can see we were more in the game in the second half because we controlled the game more. It’s team building, it’s step by step and I believe we will have a good team.”
And commenting on the performance of the home-based players:”We are really happy because the home-based had a chance to play, it’s good for the first time in the main team. It will go a long way to make them more confident, more self belief in themselves.
“And also it will make the other home-based players that are not here to work hard because they know they have a chance if they are doing well in the league.”
The Eagles will be back in action in the early hours of Friday when they take on Ecuador.
This will be the first time both countries will meet at the men’s senior level.

..after he made you a ball boy?
@Godwin bro it is better that way Salisu does not deserve much influence in that team after all he is a Assistant coach and there is a reason it is called Assistant coach. I am starting to like Pisero handling of matters.
But Ecuador is 46 in Fifa book.
And Mexico is 14th.
I can just imagine Nigeria lining up with Osimhen, Ndidi, Bassey and Chukwueze in the same team wow just wow…
Chukwueze should be our vinicius jr, but its a shame my man prefers partying in ibiza than taking his career seriously
Na so @MAJOR FLEX THE UNCONCERNED …one small fame, him head don dey swell… What has he really achieved?…. and eversince he has featured for Super Eagles, he has not really impressed me…and may be I have too much of expectation.
You have a good selction there but Ndidi won’t be able to play at the national level again. Just maybe club side. For the Ecuadorian match, I see Dennis and Dessers scoring.
The match will end 4:0 in our favour.
@Musa….can you throw more light in your assertion and I quote you ‘Ndidi won’t be able to play at the national level again’…what do you mean by that?…Is he done with Super Eagles or what?… E jo, e ma fi mo daku sere o…

The Amaju Pinnick led NFF did a good to job to have appointed this coach. I think we should be expectant of the present team mostly as there are domestic players in the mix. God bless Nigeria.
What color of shirt is Peseiro putting on his body?
