Peseiro Should Remain As Eagles Coach –Troost-Ekong

Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong has urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to retain Jose Peseiro as the senior national team coach.

Recall that Peseiro led Nigeria to the final of the final of the just concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nation, where the team lost 2-1 to Ivory Coast.

However, in an interview with CNN World Sports Amanda Davies, the Nigerian international noted that Peseiro should be given the chance to continue the good work with the Super Eagles.

“Yes. I think the players are happy with him. Reaching the final is something significant and also something we can build on,” Troost-Ekong said in an exclusive interview with CNN World Sports Amanda Davies.

“However, on what he had in mind, I did try to ask him before we left and he said he’s going to call me back. I think I’m just as much in the dark as you guys are but I think all the players would be happy to see him back.”

Amuneke now you yam head… incompetent nff should get amuneke now ASAP if they really know football… let amuneke appoint his own assistant himself and he will have no excuse not to perform.. a black man will never learn until failure comes.. when they shouldn’t have sack rohr but they did because of selfish reasons, rohr was supposed to be sack after the world Cup where he was very foolish and naive but nff kept him on board only to sack him close to nation Cup when they shouldn’t have… again let peseiro go now but they won’t, until he and nff have set Nigeria back or they too late before they sack him… tell peseiro thank you for his service and relieve him. Get amuneke oh incompetent nff…..

Absolute bullshit…Amuneke ko Amuniki ni. Where has he proven himself? No single track record beside qualifying Tanzania for the world cup, after which everything crumbled. Super eagles is not a training material….Finidi is growing through the stages now, and he should be ready after a trial with a youth national team.

Amunineke is a serial failure, untested. On what basis is he better than Peseiro? The players themselves have said it. Retain Peseiro!

Thank you BEST PLAYER OF AFCON.

      • So what did they call Paseiro when he failed in Saudi Arabia and Venezuela where he failed woefully? They also called him a serial failure till he proved us wrong with his boring defensive football that will collapse under a serious attacking opposition coached by a black African.
Please give Amuneke chance and take us back to our attacking football.

  • But CSN, I followed that link with tag title ‘CNN World Sports Amanda Davies’ and didn’t see the original report or video on the landing page. The latest story posted by CNN on that page (Amanda Davies) was yesterday and it was not on Ekong or this topic. I scrolled down and the only Nigerian story there was this:
“Chiamaka Nnadozie’s father didn’t want her to play soccer. Nigerian star defied him and rewrote the record books.”

Put simply, that link isn’t correct. I even checked on YouTube with specific keywords and didn’t see any Ekong interview on CNN. Please correct if there’s actually one. Until then, I’ll take this claim/story with a pinch of salt.

  • He should continue as reward since his players like him. Amunike should be given u23 to handle if he win Olympic he takes super eagles. He is rusty already

  • Peseiro is tactically bankrupt , the worst coach Nigeria can have, and amuneke also who failed with ordinary zanaco in Zambia , source for a better coach from Europe unless Nigeria will go from 28 to 66because peseiro style of play is to stay behind against inferior teams like guinea Bissau , Sierra Leone etc

  • Nigeria needs a better coach who won’t stay back against inferior team , there is a popular quote now that do one good thing for Nigerians and they will forget the bad you have done. We have all forgotten that this man lost against Guinea Bissau , Algeria an embarrassing 4-0to Portugal, to be frank we only got to the finals because we didn’t play countries of our calibal the countries ranked from 60-130
