Pizarro Out For ‘Several Weeks’

Werder Bremen striker Claudio Pizarro has been ruled out for “several weeks” after scans on his thigh injury.

Werder have confirmed the news of his injury on their official website, ruling the Peru international out of Sunday’s trip to Bayer Leverkusen.

Pizarro suffered the injury in training on Wednesday and, following scans, he has been ruled out for an unspecified time but it’s thought he will be on the sidelines for at least a month.

Werder’s statement read: “Claudio Pizarro will miss Werder’s trip to face Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Sunday after results of scans confirmed that the Peruvian had suffered a thigh injury during Wednesday’s training session.

“The injury will keep Pizarro out of action for several weeks, with a return date dependent on the length of the recovery time.” Pizarro, who rejoined the Bundesliga side from domestic rivals Cologne on a free transfer last summer, has scored five goals in 23 appearances in all competitions this season.
