Pochettino Quick To Take The Positives

Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino has urged his side to move on after they were beaten 2-1 by Liverpool on Sunday in the Premier League.

The meeting was Spurs’ first since the international break and they looked rusty as they fell behind inside 16 minutes.

Roberto Firmino was allowed a free header and he slotted home past Hugo Lloris.

Both sides missed chances before midfielder Lucas Moura found an equaliser after converting Christian Eriksen’s lay off.

However, Spurs left Merseyside with nothing after an error from Lloris saw Toby Alderweireld score an own goal.

The defeat puts more pressure on Spurs in the race for the top four but Pochettino has urged his players to stay calm. He told BBC Match of the Day: “We were a little bit unlucky to concede the second goal when we should have been ahead because we dominated Liverpool, who are a very good team. “No one wants to lose but it’s a different defeat than the ones we suffered against Southampton or Burnley.

We cannot say it’s positive but now we start from zero and we can achieve what we want. “I was telling the players in the changing room we have seven games and we are in top four and need to compete. It’s a mini league and, playing the way we played today, I think we can achieve the top four.”
