Pollard Eyes World Cup Spot

Despite not playing for the West Indies ODI side for the past three years, Kieron Pollard has his heart set on a place in the World Cup squad.

Since the departure of the controversial Dave Cameron as Cricket West Indies president, Pollard has seen the door open again to a possible return to the national side.

Pollard was involved in the T20 series against India last year and the 31-year-old, who scored 83 from 31 deliveries for the Mumbai Indians recently in the IPL, has not given up hope. “I am a cricketer, I am 31 years of age and I have lot of cricket left in me,” he said. “Every day I get the opportunity to play, I want to do my best. “There has been a lot of turmoil in West Indies cricket over the last couple of years.

But we have seen in the last couple of weeks there’s a change. “Pollard was one of the guys blacklisted.

The most I can do every time I step on the cricket field is try to put runs on the board.

“There’s people there who have the job to select and whatever and we’ll see how that goes. “As I said, I’m 31, Chris Gayle is still playing, he’s 39, and he’s still whacking it all around.”
