Portugal Keen To Appoint Mourinho New Manager

The Portuguese Football Federation has stepped up their pursuit of Roma boss, Jose Mourinho.

The AS Roma boss is the favorite to replace Fernando Santos, who left the post after the Selecao quarter-final exit from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Mourinho is under contract at Roma until 2024 but might be tempted to lead his country for the first time.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Portuguese Federation are increasing the pressure on Mou to make a decision as soon as possible.

U-21 boss, Rui Jorge has been appointed caretaker manager until July.

The Federation will however swoop for Mourinho at the end of the season.

Mou joined the Giallorossi in the summer of 2021 and immediately took them to their first ever UEFA trophy, lifting the Conference League.

Traditionally, he has never stayed at one club for that long, managing three years at Chelsea and Real Madrid.
