Pre-season: Onyeka Makes First Appearance For Brentford In Draw vs Man United

Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka made his first appearance for his new club Brentford in their 2-2 draw against Manchester United, in a pre-season game at Old Trafford.

Onyeka, who recently joined Brentford from Danish club Midtjylland, was introduced in the 61st minute of the game.

Youngster Anthony Elanga gave United a deserved lead on 12 minutes with a brilliant sweeping volley from 12 yards.

Shandon Baptiste equalised with an even better hit from 25 yards in the 20th minute in front of 30,000 at Old Trafford.

Pereira, who was on loan at Lazio last season, struck a quite sublime 30-yard volley in off the underside of the crossbar to put the hosts ahead on 50 minute.

But with 12 minutes left in the game Bryan Mbeumo’s cute finish secured a draw for the Brentford.

Onyeka will hope to get another run in for Brentford when they host West Ham in another friendly on Saturday.

  • Very quick to the ball…. a hard tackler….he gave Hannibar a good welcome tackle in the second half….and covered the attackers well when they went forward…..won a free kick for his team in a dangerous position when he was covering the tracks of the attacking players….I think I saw the glimpse of what Onyeka was brought to do for Bredford in today’s match….. I only pray he succeeds and hopefully keeps them in the EPL.

Gbam. Apt. You really saw the game. Anybody who says this guy has nothing to offer the national team needs a new pair of eyes. I also join you in praying that he and his team succeeds in the deep waters of the EPL. If they can stay afloat this season, like Victor Wanyama, I can bet a top 8 EPL club will come for him next season

I am honestly seeing a different Onyeka from the one that played in that nigeria friendly. This boy is good. Reminds me very much of Sunday Oliseh. Cant wait to watch games against leicester and watford, where hopefully the trio of Ndidi, Onyeka and Etebo plays all plays.
