Premier League: Lookman Scores Winner As Leicester City Stun Liverpool

Substitute Ademola Lookman scored the winning goal as Leicester City claimed a 1-0 win against Liverpool at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.

Liverpool dominated the game but paid for their wastefulness in front of goal.

Mohamed Salah squandered the chance to put the visitors in front when he missed from the spot in the 15th minute after he was caught inside the box by Wilfred Ndidi.

Lookman, who replaced Hamza Choudhury in the 56th minute netted the winning goal three minutes later.

Ndidi returned to the side and was in action for 90 minutes after missing the 6-3 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday due to Injury.

Ndidi’s international teammate Kelechi Iheanacho also started the game and was replaced by Dewsbury-Hall three minutes before the hour mark.

    What a goal by Lookman, proper baller. He’s very technical and skillful – a ball-carrier too. I think he’s even good enough to start for England!
    I hope Nacho is OK after those two bad-landings. He had a decent game too.
    Aside the penalty, Wilfred Ndidi had a great game. Timely challenges and tackles. Congrats to Leicester.

    @JOHN-1: Big up man. Great analysis devoured of sentimental writeup of some armchair amateurs.

    Lookman is certainly one for the future. Some of the current players going to Cameroon would be found wanting in the tournament proper, therefore oppening opportunities for those who did not make it to stage a claim for the world Cup.

    • Lookman is not only for the future, lookman is also for the present……. Lookman is playing at a very high level now and very few players in the present SE can stand toe to toe with him…….He deserves to be in the team if he is eligible.., simple.

  • Omo9ja 2 years ago

    I will advise Eguavoen to talk to Ndidi about his tackling. This is getting to much of him. He should be more calm on the pitch.

    Ndidi should be more calculative in his tackling. For me, Eguavoen should never use Ndidi in the defense position. This is why we needed more players to come in after the Afcon in Cameroon.

    It is logical to have Nwobodo in the Super Eagles. That Nwobodo is a rock and he is well calculative in his tackling. Having both Ndidi and Nwobodo in the Super Eagles is a great opportunity for coach Eguavoen.

    For Lookman, for sure he will be invited into the Super Eagles after Afcon. Also, Ejaria and Dessers. Congratulations to
    Leicester City. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • God bless you Omo9ja, I was expecting Nwobodo to be in the list. Though, World cup is near even if he missed afcon.

      • Omo9ja 2 years ago

        Amen @Godsate. That Nwobodo is a baller.

        Eguavoen should do what Oga Rohr failed to do.

        The interim coach needs to create competition in the team.

        By doing so, nobody is guaranteed automatic shirt in the team and also, our reserve bench should be strong as our 1st eleven.

        No time to waste time. We have the players to do the job.

        Can Amaju and NFF allow Mr. No nonsense to build Super Eagles we have been waiting for? I don’t know but the time will tell. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

      • Great match

    • Chinenye 2 years ago

      Nwobodo does nit play the same position as ndidi. He’s an attacker except he’s Turkish club plays him as an dm now

    • Nwobodo should move to a top5 league……we already have too many low profile league players in the team already……We should raise the standard of SE if we want to compete and get recognized outside Africa.

    • John-I 2 years ago

      Did you even watch the game yesterday or you rely on livescore. Aside the penalty (which was unfortunate), Ndidi was a monster. Do you know how many tackles,interceptions and blocks he made yesterday? Where does Obinna Nwobodo play his football? Mtcheew

    • What’s your assurance that Dessers and Ejaria will be invited after the AFCON?

      I don’t think these coaches have the ball to take the necessary risks involved in capping a new player.

  • Lookman should take the place of Musa, and Dessar in for Ighalo after Afcon.
    If there is any experienced player needed in the new SE, it is Victor Moses.
    Balogun should give way for Akpoguna, for a new look SE after the AFCON.

  • Four four two 2 years ago

    Its very clear that Musa’s time in SE is over. He cannot be there for caps sake while a baller like lookman who is so strong and fearless with the ball and playing for a top club against top opposition stays out. Pls Musa should resign after Afcon. His time is over. Thank you so much for ur contribution for SE but ur time is up. Whether you are 28 or so doesnt matter we have better options

    • Chinenye 2 years ago

      This is nigeria @four four two. A supposedly normal human being even said we should give him the same treatment that was given to Mikel, Okocha and Kanu.That the negative trend must continue. Super eagles is now a team where slots have become a birthright for captains at the expense of better options. No wonder we’ve been stagnated in all aspects of life in this country

      • Babad 2 years ago

        Egu said he felt Ndidi is holding back, that he thought there is more he can do. If the coach wants to see the best in him, hand him the captain band. There should not be sentiment on board. Our so-called Captain is error-prone for both club and country

  • Nigeria think they can eat their cake and also have it……. You keep a talented player like lookman out of the team inorder to honor Musa and you expect to get results???….It’s either we chose to move forward or we move backwards…… Favouritism nepotism Quota system Sentimentality name it has damage Nigeria beyond repair and only God knows if Nigeria can be redeemed in this our generation.

  • If lookman and ejaria are now and truly cleared by Fifa, then at least lookman should have been in this team. Scoring against the man city and Liverpool within days.

    Anyway let’s see what happens at afcon. I don’t expect to see Musa in SE after afcon.

    On nwobodo, I wonder why he is still staying in turkey of he is that good. Notwithstanding, he should be given a chance since we have a problem in the middle just as nwakali is being given the chance now.

    I wish SE well in afcon. I p ray ndidi no get injury before it’s time to come to the camp.

    • From the line-up yesterday, the English flag was displayed in front of Lookman’s name. I believe this shows his switch has not been completed. Therefore, he can’t play for us yet.

      • @Deji. Thank you. I believe that too. It’s just that in Nigeria, we

        1. We jump into conclusion without confirming news.

        2. Our authorities also don’t pass across information to us at the right time.

        3. CS has also becime a big mess. A Shadow of what they used to be. I wonder why they can’t get us the fact about their switch and clearance by Fifa.

      • Dr Banks 2 years ago

        That’s true, Lookman and Ejaria has not been cleared yet and I believed that’s due to NFF lack of intent to follow up on the application. You guys can always check http://www.sofifa.com for players nationality status

    Ademola Lookmn is the new number 7 for the Super Eagles provided NFF and Eguavon doesn’t do stupid politics on the players selection . Dessers also should take over from Ighalo .
    As for Kevin Agpogoma and Calvin Bassey, they have a stand in the team . The only problem is that those who makes selections and those politicians who interfere in the national team are the ones that should stay far away fro the team .

    One more player that needs looking into is Akinwunmi Amoo.

  • Ademola Lookman is an English player as at today. Stop blaming Coach Eguavoen.

    • NFF said he has been cleared, once he plays an international match his international allegiance will change.

      NFF said categorically Eguaveon didnot call him up.

      Check Solace Chukwu twitter he has been cleared

  • jor j 2 years ago

    Rohr included Lookman in the 40 man list,

    So Eguaveon eye dey pain you.

    A player scoring against 2 of the best European teams or teams in the world

    Thats y Foreign coach is employed because of bias or selling player

  • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

    Lookman is already cleared by FIFA to play for Nigeria it was a common decision between the player and Eguavoen to let him focus on his club football for now and will duly be available for the WorldCup qualifiers playoffs. He’s definitely one for the nearest future.

    In another news NFF have finally hired Jose Paseiro a Portuguese as the SuperEagles coach post AFCON. He will work with Eguavoen at the AFCON as team observer. Lmao!! From French German to Portuguese!! You see our problem has never been to let Rohr go, but who will replace him?? I hope Paseiro can get the best out of this team. At least he’s a neutral foreign coach who I’m sure will select his team on current form.

  • Where did you get this news about a common agreement between Lookman and Eguavoen? I don’t think Eguavoen can be exonerated from this? I wish them all the best at AFCON though..

    • William d conqueror 2 years ago

      When I say Eguavon is a bribe eater some nonentities here were talking bladerdash. Now you reason am now.

  • Hmm….I just want to Advise my people to just sit back and enjoy good football from this coming tournament cos for me, I just want to take my time to study some certain players in during the tournament.
    * Daniel Akpeyi
    * John Noble
    * Abdullahi Shehu
    * Jamilu Collins
    * Kenneth Omeruo
    * Olisa Ndah
    * Kelechi Nwakali
    * Odion Ighalo
    * Ahmed Musa.
    I want to really take my time to know what our handlers are really seeing in them that I can’t see. It’ll really hurt me if they don’t get enough playing time. Till then.
