Premier League: Nwaneri Makes History As Arsenal Beat Brentford, Reclaim Top Spot

Ethan Nwaneri became the youngest player ever to play in the English Premier League as Arsenal defeated Brentford 3-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Nigerian-born youngster replaced Fabio Vieira in stoppage time making his first Premier League appearance at 15 years and 181 days old.

William Saliba opened the scoring with a flicked, near-post header from Bukayo Saka’s corner in the 17th minute.

Gabriel Jesus doubled Arsenal’s advantage with another header from Granit Xhaka’s cross two minutes before the half hour mark.

The Gunners continued their dominance after the break with Vieira riffling a stunning effort in off the post from 25 yards out.

Mikel Arteta’s side moved to top position a point clear of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur following the win.

  • I think he is the son of former Nigerian international Obinna Nwaneri.

His mother is Dannish. The NFF should cap him at senior level asap before Denmark and England come after him.

This is another Busayo Saka case loading

Think it’s too early to start discussing international call up for the young guy. It could distract him in the long run.

If we must invite him, that would be to the U-17 team which is seemingly impossible.

Meanwhile, should Nigeria recall this Manchester city product who has started all the nine games played so far this season, scored Five goals, and recorded three assists?

Somebody who the coach trust to come in to an EPL game (The best league in the world) should now join Nigeria u17 team? If you said the the u23 team, I would have agreed .Whilst I agree it is to early to be talking about him joint the super eagles but the NFF should make contact with the family now. I feel we leave it too late and wait until the player becomes prominent before we show interest.

He is still far away from the first team. Arteta is doing all he can to ensure arsenal do not lose him. You only get a professional contract at age 16 and if the boy feels he might not get chances , he might sign elsewhere. They do not want to lose a good prospect like they did with omari Hutchinson.
