PROMISING: Flying Eagles’ Rating In Poland 2019 1-1 Draw Vs Ukraine

Completesports.com’s ADEBOYE AMOSU appraises Flying Eagles’ players following their 1-1 draw against Ukraine in their Group D clash at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland on Thursday and qualification for the Round of 16 as one of the four best third-placed teams.

OLAWALE OREMADE 5/10

He was at fault for Ukraine’s only goal of the game. Not as commanding as he had been for the Flying Eagles in the previous games.

RABIU MOHAMMED 5/0

A tepid performance from the right-back who overcame injury to maintain his spot in the starting line-up.

IGOH OGBU 5/10

Replaced the injured Valentine Ozornwafor and never really looked good enough to step into the latter’s shoes.

ALIU SALAWUDEEN 5/10

Looked lost at times and didn’t do well to stop Ukraine’s only goal of the game againstt Flying Eagles scored by Oleksii Kashchuk.

IKOUWEN UTIN 6/10

Yet to hit the standard set in the side’s first game against Qatar, but certainly did improve on his performance in the lash game against USA.

NNAMDI OFOBOR 7/10

Put up a good performance in his first start and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet for his efforts.

ANIEKEME OKON 6/10

Started the game well but fizzled out afterwards. He will do well to make things simple.

KINGSLEY MICHAEL 5 / 10

He was not at his best for the Flying Eagles in the game. Did little all through the encounter

EFFIOM MAXWELL 6/10

Full of life as usual. The Enyimba winger fought hard in the game but couldn’t help his side secure maximum points.

SUCCESS MAKANJUOLA 7/10

Another player who was handed a starting berth in the Flying Eagles for the first time in the competition. He nearly scored the winner late in the game but for the smartness of the Ukrainian goalkeeper.

MOHAMMED TIJANI 5/10

Atoned for his earlier miss from the spot when he converted another penalty in the second half. His overall performance was not up to scratch

SUBSTITUTES

OKECHUKWU OFFIA 4/10

Didn’t affect the game much following his introduction 16 minutes from time for Maxwell Effiom

COLLINS SOR

Played a cameo role, hence not Rated. He was subbed on in the 92nd minute for Mohammed Tijani.

PETER ELETU

Not Rated. He replaced Success Makanjuola in the 87th minute – a cameo role for the Flying Eagles.

By rating each and every player, they are on their way home by the time I finish this writings. they are all bunch of average players.

Most people predicted the situations they are in now. They went to Poland for site-seeing and obviously went to look for Clubs that could sign them.

Aigbogun and his below average players are now belong to history.

From the distance, l knew that they didn’t stand a chance of coming out from the Group. I was so sure that the USA would take them to the gutter. I felt sorry for those fans who thought otherwise. They were not meant to be.

I for one, shall keep watching to see how far the USA will go.

As former President Jonathan’s wife said “there is God o, there is God oo, oo” smile !!!

Brother Edoman, Nigeria and Poland automatically qualify for round of 16 as 3rd placed best team; the remaining 2 best placed 3rd teams will emerge tomorrow.

    • Edoman, they have qualified for the next knockout round. To be fair, they were better than the Ukraine in all but scoring. More passes (437 to 419), pass accuracy rate (76% to 73%), possession (53% to 48%), shots (14 to 6), shots on target (3 to 2) corner kicks (8 to 1).

We have also qualified as the second (of 4 best placed third team). Poland (group A) have a superior goal difference (+3 to our +2) also go through on the same number of points.

We have a superior goal difference to Ecuador in group B (we have +2 they have 0)and more points than Norway in group C (we have 4 points, Norway has 3).

With Portugal and Panama having one game left, only Portugal have any chance of bettering out points and goal difference. So we are guaranteed.

Our stats read 3 games played, one win, one draw and one loss. 5 goals scored 2 conceded. Not a bad result.

We look forward to the match against either Italy on Sunday or Senegal on Monday. Either game we have a 50/50 opportunity to advance.

      Its not so bad afterall

      • 5 goals scored, 3 conceded

Good morning my fellow ladies & gentlemen,(6.35 A.M. Est) this is a good day the Lord has Blessed. l am trilled to learn that Jesus Christ has arisen from the dead. It was the greatest news of all time. Let rejoice to His glory. Even Mary was surprised and l was too. But Peter, whose Faith never shaken was not surprise.
So, ladies & gentlemen, if you are a practicing Christian, even Muslim, you already learn to forgive and move on.
l had no idea whatsoever that Aigbogun and his boys has that ‘never-die-spirit’ to put through. I congratulate them. God will continue to strengthen them as they go forward in this competition in Poland.

Whoever made this rating seem to me very biased. Igho Ogbu was one of our best players yesterday. Miles ahead of Ozorowafor n other defenders. Why are people damaging our football for selfish reason. How could this rater, say Igho couldn’t match Ozorowafors performance?. Nigerias two best players yesterday were Igho Ogbu n Nnamdi Oforbhor. Utin Udoh isn’t good enough period. Lack every bit of football sense. Senseless shots n running into opponents n in the process losing balls at dangerous places thus allowing opponents taking advantage of its position.

You said it all you really watched the game

    • TeamBox 5 years ago

This reporter that rate this player should better go and be selling pure water in the market for he no nothing about football Igho Ogbu is the best defender in this FE team that I have watch so far, sentiment apart. They perform beyond my expectations yesterday. If Nigeria should have play like this against USA should have been another story. To me the players are good but the handler is not tactically sound.

      • Glory 5 years ago

U can imagine . For the first time, I m beginning to think Aigbogun is not it. Its either he is under immense pressure from some criminal government officials or silly n self centred agents or lacks what it takes to be a good coach/manager both in terms of identitying players quality n working out productive tactical formation that suit d team. Just can’t believe that Igho Ogbu has been sitting on d bench while mediocre playing.

    • Adisboy 5 years ago

Glory, i’m not suprised by these CS journalists. They are either blind or totally ignorant of football. Igho as you rightly said was BY FAR the best defender. It isn’t even close. I’m as baffled as you as to why he has not started till yesterday. Him, Oforboh & Success were our top performers yesterday. Also Okon deserves a special mention.

    • Mobayo 5 years ago

God bless you. The rating was biased. Michael and Igor had great game. They played well than 5/10 rating accord them please.

  • Sunnyb 5 years ago

@Glory, my guy u are wasting ur time with these corruption invested brains, Igho was the best player yesterday by miles. The guy is so calm and very skillful as a defender, he reminds me  of great Uche Okechukwu.Aigbogun kept the guy in the bench playing one yeye Salau imposed on him by Amunike  and that old overhyped  Ozorowafor.

  • Ndubuisi 5 years ago

You are on point we can still win any of those games. They improved from the last match. Midfield played better especially nnamdi ofobor and Success Makanjuola. The team may get to quarter finals but not that they are a fantastic side. I wonder how utin the captain was rated 6 to me he was the weakest link in that back line and was giving away possession in dangerous area. My rating is 3/10.

  • Chima E Samuels 5 years ago

The goalkeeper has never been good CS don’t bring another disaster to super eagles with your campaign and Utin forget the two assist he made he is not a left back he is disaster when defending but good at supporting attack.

Success is the only player I see making it to the Super eagles one day because he is sharp and got a good left foot like Chukwueze and Co we know but he is very smart with a good team he will perform better but with all this bunch of comedians they will be killing his potential.

Offia is good but it is clear that he is overage. Okon And Success are world class for me.

  • Deejay 5 years ago

Utin was a weak link in the team. Obviously he wasn’t playing to  intructions. The camera caught on d manager shaking his head in frustration and displeasure after one of his moves. How can u shoot from this distance with 2-3players in front of u? This were d decisions he made all night long and lost possession trying to dribble in his own half. Yesterday Makanjuola did d trick for our attack, Igoh did it for d defense while d best player on the night ofobor did d work in d middle of d pack. This guys were d reason we progressed. By the way, Nigeria does not have good goalie in any category o. From super Eagles to all d eagles. Hopefully d coach will play d same team for next game.

  • Chairmanfemi 5 years ago

Well said my people. Best players of the Night for me was Igho in Defense, Oforboh in Midfield and Success Makanjuola in Attack. The only thing Igho Ogbu did yesterday for me o was that he was the one who fumbled that allowed that first goal. He allowed that Ukraine attacker to dribble to the point of falling to the Ground! and before he could get up, the guy already sent the cross in for those two mumu Goal keeper and Salawudeen to allow a player nod it in. Assuming Igho was up, he would have cleared the ball therefore preventing that cross. Apart from that, he performed very well all night.

NNAMDI OFORBOH: A beast in the middle. I waited all night to fault every of his pass but I never saw one. Brilliant.

SUCCESS MAKANJUOLA: Lived up to the nickname “Little Messi” but I call him another “CHUKWUEZE”. He was on fire all night. Dribbling, whipping the crosses in, trying shots at goal. He improved the attack.

Our next match line up for me should be like this with the 4-3-3

GK- I prefer either Detan or the Italian ZACALLA to that clueless Grandpa Oremade

    RABIU
    VALENTINE(If fit)
    IGHO OGBU
    UTIN

    OFORBOH
    TOM DELE-BASHIRU
    SUCCES MAKANJUOLA

    K. MICHAEL
    SOR
    EMEKA

  • The guy that rated this team is as incompetent as the coaching crew of the Flying Eagles. To start with, the scorer of the Ukranian goal is Danylo Sikan and Oleksii Kashchuk as stated by the rater. Many people talked and are involved in football but lack the idea and the knowledge of the game. The Flying Eagles coach is inept in so many ways…(1) Assuming that thre are players imposed on him the NFF, as a good coach he is still suppose to make a good team out of an average squad. For example, if the coach must play the captain at all cost, why not change his formation to 3-5-2 to favour an attacking left back who is so bad defensively while playing OZORNWAFOR-IGOH-SALAUDEEN back three. i need to remind the coach too that DELE-BASHIRU is not the problem of his midfield but a great asset.Tell me how a youngster who was brought up playing the ball on the ground and moving to spaces in Manchester City is supposed to understand the static-kick and follow midfielders he was paired with. We all saw the difference between an OFOBORH and a JAMIL MUHAMMAD yesterday. The coach can also do with a more mobile forward than TIJANI and a more compact midfield. from the guys I ‘ve watched play so far, I think this line-up won’t be bad.
    16. Whichever goalkeeper (as his n°1 is too bad)

    5.SALAWUDEEN 12.IGOH 6.OZORNWAFOR

    2.RABIU 3.UTIN
    10.OKON 13.OFOBORH

    8.DELE-BASHIRU
    19.EFFIOM
    17.MAKANJUOLA

I no be coach o but I bet this is one of the better team one can get from a squad as we have in Poland.

    • Chairmanfemi 5 years ago

OH MY GOD! I never thought of it this way. May God bless your knowledge @Sam. Truly Utin and Rabiu are more attack minded most especially UTIN and forgets his back line duty. Most of our goals have come from his side cuz he was still upfront when he was supposed to be at the back and one of the Centre backs will now want to cover up for him thereby leaving the Opponents load our box with there players strategically positioned for goal. A 3-5-2 formation as you’ve posted here is very welcomed only if someone can pass this piece to the Coach. Also, thanks for your analysis on Tom Dele-Bashiru. Some will still come and attack you about him but you already said the plain truth about the guy.

      Whichever Goal-keeper

      DEFENSE
      OGBU
      VALENTINE
      SALAWUDEEN

      DMF
      NNAMDI OFORBOH
      CMF
      OKON
      AMF
      TOM DELE-BASHIRU

      ATTACKERS
      SUCCESS MAKANJUOLA
      EFFIOM

  • *in 3-5-2 formation, na CSN page scatter my well drawn graphic o.

    • Please lets csn send this formation to the crew 3 5 2 is the agreed formation in the second round. Its time we have to help them out with good ideas. Igho salaudeen and ozorwafo.rabiu, kinsley micheal, ofohbor, dele bashiru and utin. Forward should be markanjoula and effiom or offia can also be sor or okon but that tijani guy and the other senegal attacker in the team should be sent home

There’s nothing promising about their dismal performance. Worst Nigerian team ever
