The opener added 26 to his total before he was bowled by veteran all-rounder Rikki Clarke. Tom Westley was the first to go for 28, as leg-spinner Scott Borthwick claimed his fourth wicket of the match. Clarke returned the best bowling figures, with 2-11 from nine overs while Borthwick took 2-64 from 18. County champions Surrey will continue the preparations for the start of the season when they entertain Durham MCCU on Thursday, April 4, with Essex the visitors as the competitive action gets underway a week later.
