Rangers To Know Extent Of Balogun Injury After Win Vs St Johnstone

Rangers could discover today the extent of the injury that forced Leon Balogun off during the 3-0 win over St Johnstone at Ibrox, in Wednesday’s Scottish League tie.

Balogun did not appear for the second half of the win as he was replaced by Filip Helander at the break.

The Nigerian international has been an impressive performer for Rangers since making the move from Wigan last month.

And speaking on Balogun’s half time substitution, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard said: “I think Balogun has a tight quad and we’ll get that looked at in [on Thursday] morning. He is definitely a concern for the weekend but we have real strong options in that area. Fil came on and played like an international player with experience.

“Hopefully it’s not a bad one. Leon walked past me earlier so I don’t think it’s anything major.”

Rangers climb to the top of the league table following the win against St Johnstone.

Joe Aribo was on target in the game as he netted the third goal to seal the win.

Injuries have been this guys’s albatross. He can hardly stay fit for 8 straight weeks. Gosh…!

Nah…Drey. This injury in particular is not like any of the Injuries that happens to him re-occuring. Infact BALOGUN will be back soonest.

Around the 35th minutes yesterday, Balogun attempted clearing a ball out with his head. Jumped so high and while he was landing, he was pushed slightly by the opponent causing Balogun to land his waist heavily on the Ground. Painful yeah..cuz he showed it when he stood up staggering and massaging his waist but few minutes after he shook it off and finished the First Half. Am sure he was asked to be benched so as not to cause any further damage. He will be back soonest.

I hope so too @Chairmanfemi. I watched the match last night and for once had my heart in my mouth immediately he landed off that awkward aerial challenge. Balogun’s history has been fraught with so many freak injuries (the one he had on his debut against mexico in 2014 is still vivid in my head), some looking less severe than last night’s own and the next thing is that you hear he is out for 4 week or more. I pray such is not the case this time. I really want him to shame that loudmouth who claimed he wont be a regular at Rangers. Other wise balogun’s performance has been impeccable so far…defending with so much class and swagalicious swagga. 3 games, 3 wins, 3 clean sheets…..the Balogun magic…! Even Wigan FC can testify to it.
