Real Madrid Defender Added To Injury List

Real Madrid have been hit by the news defender Nacho Fernandez is facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury. Los Blancos have had a torrid time on the injury front so far this season when losing a number of key players, and now Nacho can also be added to the list.

The injury capped another disappointing night for Real as they were forced to come from 2-0 down to rescue a 2-2 draw against Club Brugge in the Champions League at the Bernabeu.
Nacho was replaced at half-time after complaining of discomfort in his right knee and Real have no confirmed the full extent of the damage.

Although they have not given a timeframe on his recovery. “Following tests carried out on Nacho Fernández by the Sanitas Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to his medial collateral ligament in his right knee,” a statement read. “His recovery will continue to be assessed.”

Captain Sergio Ramos and Casemiro came to Madrid’s rescue in the second half with boss Zinedine Zidane left fuming with what his side dished up in the first 45 minutes. “The truth is that we produced a poor first-half display, we made a really bad start in the first five minutes and they made life difficult for us straight away,” Zidane said.

“We weren’t in control of any aspect of the game and the second half was a different story and we changed the complexion of the game. What I take away with me is the reaction from the players because they’re the ones who changed the game. That’s what I take away with me, that and the point.”
