Revealed: Liverpool ‘Agreed £169M’ Deal For Mbappe Before Real Madrid Move

Liverpool reportedly made a significant attempt to lure Kylian Mbappe to Anfield from Paris Saint-Germain before he joined Real Madrid.

The France international had previously been linked with the Reds, but due to his enormous salary and the potential transfer fee involved, the move was seen as highly unlikely.

As Mbappe’s time at PSG neared its end, Liverpool were the main Premier League club associated with him. However, Real Madrid emerged as the frontrunners to secure his services on a free transfer.

Rather than paying a massive transfer fee, the La Liga giants opted to wait and sign Mbappe for free. Over the summer, Real Madrid confirmed the 25-year-old’s arrival.

According to L’Equipe, as reported by Football 365, Liverpool made an offer for Mbappe in 2022 worth €200 million (£169 million), and the France international had ‘agreed’ to the transfer.

However, PSG’s then-director, Antero Henrique, demanded €400 million, which the Reds were unable to meet.

Mbappe scored on his debut in Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup.

Although he initially struggled in his first three La Liga games for Los Blancos, failing to score, the Frenchman bounced back in his fourth game before the international break, scoring twice as Carlo Ancelotti’s side defeated Real Betis 2-0.
