Players of Rivers United were rewarded to the tune of $2,000 by the club’s Administrator, Barr. Christopher Green, following Saturday’s hard-fought 1-1 draw away to FC San Pedro, in the CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg clash inside the Laurent Pokou Stadium, Ivory Coast, Completesports.com reports.
Green, a former Executive Committee member of Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF) as well as former Technical Committee Chairman of the NFF, said the gift was management’s appreciation of the players efforts and commitment to the club’s ambition.
“It was a good result coming from a commitment and doggedness of the team to succeed,” Green said.

“And as a responsible management, such effort deserves appreciation, hence the reward.”
Lacing Dosso put the hosts in front after the break but Douglas Iyowune restored parity for the Pride of Rivers soon after, thus, salvaging a valuable point for the Finidi George side going into return leg on Sunday at Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Barr. Green had earlier announced a N2m reward to Rivers United players after their 2026/2027 EuroMatch/NPFL opening season 2-0 Win against Plateau United.
