Roberts Braced For ‘Different’ Test

Norwich loanee Patrick Roberts says he is prepared for a “different” test in the Premier League this season. The 22-year-old agreed the third loan move of his career at the start of the summer and could be set for his first full season of Premier League football.

Roberts did make two Premier League appearances during his time with Fulham in 2013-14, before turning out once for parent club Manchester City in the league during the 2015-16 campaign. But he has spent the past four seasons out on-loan, three of those with Celtic and last term he was with Girona in Spain.

He made 79 appearances for Celtic but believes he will have to deal with a very different test in the Premier League. “It’s a completely different task but still the same mentality, to keep working hard and do the same things,” Roberts said. “Up there it’s a bit different, obviously there are teams who will sit back and you have more attacking, so you can get frustrated when you can’t score.

“But here you have to be patient and not rush it, not be naïve or daft, wait for your time on the counter-attacks, carry on playing the way Norwich did all last season, carry that through. “If we can do that then I’m sure it can be a good season and the manager will instil that every day in training.”
