Rodgers: Brilliant Iheanacho’s Attitude is First Class, Working Hard Everyday

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has praised Kelechi Iheanacho once again for his exemplary attitude following the Nigerian forward’s impressive showing in recent games for the Foxes, reports Completesports.com.

Iheanacho had endured a torrid spell at the start of the campaign to become a key part of Rodgers’ squad.

The 23-year-old has scored three goals in eight league games so far this season.

The former Manchester City player is expected to play a key role in the coming weeks after Jamie Vardy picked up an injury in Wednesday’s 4-1 home win against West Ham United.

Leicester City travel to Griffin Park on Saturday for the Emirates FA Cup tie against Sky Bet Championship promotion hopefuls Brentford.

Vardy will miss the game, as well as next Tuesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg clash at Aston Villa.

And Iheanacho who is now expected to lead the lines for Leicester City in the absence of the 33-year-old has received huge plaudits from his manager.

“He’s (Iheanacho) been brilliant. You can see him improving all the time. He’s working very hard in training and taking that into games. His attitude is absolutely first class,” Rodgers told a news conference on Friday.

  • Nice one, I don’t envy Rohr at all, he is spoil for quality options

Kelechi is gradually reaching and playing to his optimum potential. I’m really glad for him. His hard work and positive attitude since controversially missing the AFCON is paying off now. He’s now a sure bet  for a spot in SuperEagles first 11 based on his current form. I can’t wait to see him pairing up with Osimhen In a deadly SuperEagles attack.

My brother AY, it’s been long sir, I really miss your wonderful contributions in this forum.

    • Bros, I hail o. But pls, what is controversial about Nacho missing AFCON?

Good question. With his experience as bonafide SuperEagles player and had been to the World Cup. He could’ve made the list ahead of Onuachu. I feel he deserves to be in that squad at least. But that’s gone and we’ve taken the experience of fielding a young team that I’m sure will go on to make Nigeria and Africa proud in the immediate future. Some will be dropped, some will emerge, but I’m pretty certain that if Iheanacho continues to get valuable game time he will definitely make an impact in the SuperEagles colors.

Three goals in 8 matches and hes a sure bet for super eagles? And will pair Osimhen? AY are you from Iheanacho’s village? I respect your knowledge of the game but I sure dont think hes as good yet as the options we have in the SE at the moment. Secondly it doesnt seem like he can play multuple roles to good effect. The times Rohr tried him in other roles, he failed. However that doesnt mean i hate Nacho. I love him and I pray he continues to improve as hes doing now. God bless you AY.

In my opinion, Kelechi deserves a callup now based on current form. Being in the starting in the 11 is also very possible but will depend on the tactics of the coach. But with 7 goals and 3 assists in 12 games (he has just scored in the current FA cup match) his ready to wrestle the top striking position with any other SE player even Osimhen. He has also won several penalties for his team.

But as for during the Nations cup, he was rightly dropped as the coach said he was low in confidence and his stats and game time was very poor while Onuachu who had scored over 20 goals in his club and his wonder strike in just his second SE match against Egypt put him far ahead of Kelechi. But now it is easy to say Onucahu did not deserve because of his performance during the AFCON. But the caoch’s job is to give every inform player a chance and see who will grab it. And that is what Onuachu could not do and now it is up to the inform Kelechi to wait for his call up and grab the opportuniy with both hands.
