Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers hailed the impact of Kelechi Iheanacho after the Nigerian forward rescued a draw for the Foxes in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup, semi-final first leg tie against Aston Villa at the King Power Stadium , reports Completesports.com.
Iheanacho replaced Ayoze Perez in the 69th minute and then cancelled out Frédéric Guilbert’s opening strike five minutes later.
The former Manchester City striker has impressed at the club this season despite limited playing time.
“Kelechi comes in and I know what I get from him. He’s so strong, so powerful and he gives us great opportunities to build the game and link the game,” Rodgers told the club’s official website after the game.
“You see his goal, he’s got great confidence now, whether he starts or comes into the game. I thought Marc Albrighton when he came on, was aggressive, as well, playing at a high tempo, and it was much better.”
City face Villa in the second leg on Tuesday , January 28 at the Villa Park.
