Rodgers Hails Maguire’s Commitment

Brendan Rodgers has praised Harry Maguire’s professionalism in the face of continual speculation over his Leicester City career.

Maguire’s future at the King Power Stadium has been the subject of many column inches over the summer months, with Manchester United linked to the England defender.

The Red Devils have reportedly offered £70m for the Sheffield-born stopper but it seems as though the East Midlanders are holding out for more.

Maguire has said he is keen to try a new challenge but has been training with the rest of the Leicester player in pre-season. It would be easy for a player to take it easy, fake an injury or down tools due to the situation but according to Rodgers, the former Hull City man has acted in a manner befitting a true professional.

“He’s very focused. He loves this group of players, he loves the club,” he said. “The supporters, it’s important for them to know the mentality this guy has shown. I’ve been in this situation a number of times and I’ve seen how it can affect players – absolutely naturally.

Players want stability. “But for him, he’s shown his true commitment and I tip my hat to him, it’s been an absolute pleasure to work with him. “He’s just got on with his work. He’s put himself through it these first couple of weeks.”
