Rodgers: Ndidi Is a Soldier, Platform Provider For Strikers

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has hailed the impact of Wilfred Ndidi at the club this season, likening the Super Eagles midfield trojan to a soldier on the field of play, reports Completesports.com.

The Nigeria international has been one of the key performers for the Foxes this season, contributing two goals in 14 Premier League appearances amid a consistent all-round showing.

Ndidi was particularly exceptional in Sunday’s hard-fought 2-1win against Everton in which his compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho shone with a goal assist and a late winner.

“He’s an incredible player. We have lots of artists and he’s the soldier,” Rodgers told a news conference of Ndidi ahead of Leicester City’s Premier League clash against Watford on Wednesday.
“He provides the platform for the attacking players. Every top team needs a player like that. He’s been phenomenal in the time I’ve been here.”

This is where voting for Africa’s best footballer is doing lots of disservice to defensive players. Its almost slways gonna be for attacking players. Ndidi definitely should be within first two for that award.Same way Mikel when he was at his best was denied simply because he wasnt playing at the attacking end of things, where as he was like a blockbuster in the defensive midfield position of that famour Chelsea team under Mourinho. Maybe Mikels irregular presence in SE during that period, contributed otherwise he truly deserved it then.Hopefully this time Ndidi will get a look in because I have search all top leagues n top teams, ndidi stands taller.
