Rodgers Sets Goals Target For Lookman To Earn Permanent Leicester Transfer

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has challenged Ademola Lookman to take his goal tally to double figures and help him earn a summer transfer to the Foxes.

Rodgers has been impressed with on loan Lookman, who has six goals and four assists across all competitions, eclipsing the combined eight he registered during the whole of last season, which he spent with Fulham.

Over the final three months of the campaign, Rodgers wants to see the 24-year-old get on the scoresheet four more times to take his total to 10.

If he can reach such levels, that could help convince the Foxes to go into talks with Bundesliga club RB Leipzig about a possible transfer.

“He’s come in and done very, very well,” Rodgers was quoted on leicestermercury.co.uk.

“It’s something between the club, his representatives and his club that he is signed for. It’s something we have to look at.

“But he’s made the impact that I wanted in terms of his games and his goalscoring. He scored more goals and more assists in this period than in all of last season.

“I said to get to that next level it’s all about efficiency. He’s clearly got the ability, but you have to produce the numbers when you’re an attacking player, and he’s definitely done that.

“Let’s see if he can finish in double figures by the end of the season, and then he will have had a really productive season. Then we can sit down and look at it then.

“He’s a good guy, I’ve really enjoyed working with him, and I think there’s still a lot more to come from him.”

With Lookman yet to reach 50 appearances for any single club he has played for – Charlton, Everton, Leipzig, and Fulham – Rodgers has previously suggested that the winger needs to find a home to settle into before he can truly flourish.

And Lookman has said that he feels very welcome at the King Power Stadium and as part of the City squad.
