Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has expressed delight in the array of Nigerian strikers doing well in their respective clubs in Europe.
The German tactician arrived in Abuja at the weekend ahead of the submission of his squad for the crucial 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin on March 22 and Lesotho on March 30.
Recall that the Three-time AFCON champions are top of Group L with 8 points followed by the Squirrels of Benin (7 points), Sierra Leone sit third with three points, and Lesotho lie bottom of the table with two points.
Speaking with Nationsports, Rohr stated that he’s still scouting on all fronts in a bid to list a formidable squad.
“Terem Moffi (Lorient) is doing well like Taiwo Awoniyi (Union Berlin), Paul Onuachu (Genk), Umar Sadiq(UD Almeria), Henry Onyekuru (Galatasaray) again…and others,” explained Rohr who breezed into Abuja at the weekend.“We are looking in all directions! Cheers from Abuja
He also reiterated that he won’t hesitate to recall retired Super Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo back to the squad if he plays regularly.
“Playing regularly in Saudi is not a reason to eliminate a good player from Super Eagles.”

Ighalo bawo
Alaye Rohr, na on top ighalo matter we go start our fight o!
Guys, inviting ighalo to super eagles team is not a bad idea !!!.But Rohr should by now know is first eleven.
Ighalo?? I thought me have moved pass ighalo..this man sounds unintelligent sometimes.
Ighalo again ke! Which kind matter be this na??? Won’t super eagles move forward?
Ighalo again when we have the likes of : Sadiq, Moffi, Awoniyi and Osimehn?
When will this coach stop amazing me with this kind of thought sometimes na?
Food is ready, lets the CSN coaches come and chop. Where is Omonaija, this Rohr will not kill someone. Ighalo for the rescue.
Honestly, I have followed Rohr for 5years and I know he likes saying things that will pepper his critiques. But I know he SE has moved on from Ighalo. He just want to get the media busy.
I don’t think so mate.He mean’t every word.
If Ighalo won the highest goal scorer in d last concluded afcon and also won the highest goal scorer in the qualifiers ( a feat that had never been achieved by a nigerian in a very long time), if he can replicate that same form whenever he’s invited in the future and consequently add a deadly bite to our strike force whilst providing the necessary experience needed by our young strikers, I see no logical reason why he shouldn’t be welcomed back to the team. A successful team needs the aforementioned to attain success. Most of you people gabbing poop now bcs of this headline were exactly same people who were making lots of noise here about the need to bring him back in the team immediately he signed for man u and started performing. Now he has moved to Saudi Arabia, the shitless maggots have come out yet again from their stinking holes. What a shame…
Can someone invite Bright Osayi Samuel
Go to Alaba market to purchase EXPERIENCE. Search up and down, all over the place. You won’t find it anywhere.
Dem no dey sell EXPERIENCE for market.
If Ighalo is the same Ighalo we saw during the world cup qualifiers and at the last Afcon, WHAT IS WRONG IN INVITING HIM AGAIN? Don’t we want to benefit from his ability and experience?
We need to have good options at all times. If we have center forwards like Osimhen, Sadiq, and Ighalo in the squad, we can always rest assured that whoever is selected will deliver. That makes for low BP and peace of mind.
Unless Ighalo is now off form, or does not wish to come back.
But if he is still in form and willing to try again, WHY NOT?
What I am seeing here is question marks. Why question marks ????? now?
Sebi I told you all before? You can’t give what you don’t have.
Of course Ighalo is a Nigerian and he deserves to represent Nigeria but is it worth it to invite Ighalo again while we have other strikers that are doing wonderfully well?
What is the statement of Mr. Rohr will do on other strikers by saying Ighalo is coming back into the Super Eagles?
Of course, is going to put more pressure and lack of confidence on others strikers.
Is Oga Rohr have any trust in other strikers? Capital NO.
Can Oga Rohr add more values to this team or moving Eagles forward?
Oga Rohr fans, how market? Is anything to say to this ba?
Oga Rohr have been building this our Super Eagles almost five years now still, he doesn’t have confidence in this team.
Shall we continue this way?
I’m not surprised about Mr. Rohr at all.
Nobody hates nobody. We love football in this country and this is the only thing. I repeat, this is the only thing that unite us and NFF are trying to destroy it mba, not today.
No time to waste time, NFF should call on Amunike, Egbo, Enyeama and Ikeme to take this team beyond this level.
We have Osimeh, Sadiq, Simmy, Dessers and Onuachu but still, none of them are good enough to lead the team except if Ighalo comes in.
Oga Rohr lost it big time. Ighalo is a good and nice person which I love him too much.
On the other hand, he is not the kind of striker we can rely on.
This indicates that Oga Rohr is not capable of taking Super Eagles to the promised land.
Oga Rohr should be the last foriegn coach in charge of Super Eagles.
NFF should start treating our ex players like foriegn managers.
Perhaps foriegn managers have been failing Nigerians for a while and this should be the end of the road for foriegn managers in charge of our national teams.
Apart from Mr. Westerhof and Mr. Jo Bonfrere, I’m not impressed with other foriegn managers.
We have to be optimistic with ourselves, Oga Rohr is not confident enough to take a risk period.
“He also reiterated that he won’t hesitate to recall retired Super Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo back to the squad if he plays regularly.
Playing regularly in Saudi is not a reason to eliminate a good player from Super Eagles.”
So if we go by this statement of Oga Rohr, how about those that playing in MLS league?
If they are good enough sometimes league doesn’t matter. I have said it on here several times but today I’m so glad that the gaffer said the same thing but he bent the rules just because he wanted Ighalo in Super Eagles team at all costs while Sadiq, Simmy nwakwo, Awoniyi and Adi are nothing or not good enough to lead the forward?
that Adi is really good on air, on the ground ah, he is a complete striker but Oga Rohr can’t pick from these strikers other than to complicate things.
Between Saudi Arabia and MLS, which league is better?
Of course, Ighalo is a Nigerian as I said earlier but I won’t say he should be invited or not because in the end, we will hold Oga Rohr for his actions if he failed Nigerians to delivered.
Over to you Oga Rohr followers and NFF. I hope he won’t call Mikel back too. The drama have just started. We are watching .
As a Nigerian, I wish Oga Rohr and his team well. As long as he delivers no wahala. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
I can see you’re already running mad bcs of that man called rohr. U speak 3000 garbage words a day, rohr would chunk up 2,850. I have no doubt in my mind that u go dy shout rohr’s name whenever u make love to your wife at night. That’s indeed serious!
@omo9ja …. Does NFF have anything to give any coach and his/her crew both local or foreign ? YES or NO
Does NFF and Sport Minister create a good and comfortable working environment for the Players and Coach ? Yes or No
Once you have answered the question above ,then we can proceed further .
Keyword :
1. Both the Sport Minister and NFF are bunch of crooks that owes both the Players , Coach and Technical crew both Salary , Allowances and Bonuses .
2 . Poor Pitches and Poor Management by both the Minister and NFF board
So you need to stop acting like NFF or Sport Minister have any tangible thing to give NIGERIAN FOOTBALL because even the Local League is yet to come to conclusion in 2-3 seasons .
Expecting your response regarding the question above
God Bless Nigeria
A player should ALWAYS be considered for invitation to the SE if they prove to be among THE VERY BEST we have at the time. If Ighalo is one of the best 3 center forwards we have, and he is willing to continue with international football, there is no good reason not to invite him. If he is not among the best, then we can’t invite him and leave another striker who merits it.
Where the player plays his football matters, but only so much. If a DM based in Malta shows that he is as good as or better than Ndidi, then his invitation is sure to happen. On the flip side, a Nigerian DM playing in La Liga does not merit invitation simply because of where he plays.
Our national team will always prosper and remain strong if we invite only the best at all times. This is Rohr’s secret to success. He always invites the best, so even when he falls short, the quality of his players bails him out.
But if we switch from meritocracy to tribalism, nepotism or sentimentalism, back to the dark ages we go.
I doubt if the Super Eagles will play for Nigeria next month if they continue to be owed their allowances. Rohr is owed his salary as well but is still ready to work. His credentials are doubtful. No manager of quality works on an empty stomach.
I laugh when people mention experience as a necessity in football. Without regular playing time experience won’t come.
The truth is that the super eagles has grown beyond ighalo.
Our problem is lack of creativity and wrong combination in midfield, if we get it right, our strikers are more than good enough to deliver the goals
ahahahahaha@oakfield i have not seen someone showing complete hatred towards a fellow human in my OVER FIVE DECADES LIFE on earth….i guess if GERNOT ROHR won the world cup it would count for nothing to that chap……he is a complete hater who sees nothing good in that man called Rohr……its unfortunate we don’t know ourselves physically some of them would be so wretched that one would regret ever going into online banters with them because people like them are plagued by poverty, wretchedness nd poverty….you have them everywhere
Lol….. Lanre my man, me tire for that guy o… Hmmmm. No be small thing. Every time rohr dy him mouth like saliva…
Experience is not necessary in football. Chai, dem don come again!
Some pipu should continue to laugh ooo. If dey they like, they can even laugh enter market. Na dia wahala be dat.
Go ahead and invite Ighalo the same manner you invited Sadiq when he was painting Partizan Belgrade and Europa cup games with goals and assists..
The regular hipnocrites on this forum were in support of their master..Some even said that his performance was a fluke insisting that playing in Serbian league does not merit consideration, Olayinka, Awoniyi, Maja, Moffi and Dennis suffered the same fate from world best coach aka Belmadi’s boy.
Now, we know you better.Try another logic. Mentioning these guys as a bait to make a case for your unintelligent and ridiculous intention is dead on arrival. Regular and performing players in top leagues and countries should be top priority.
If the most proficient SE player in the biggest global competition could sacrifice his bumper wages in Saudi Arabia for a more competitive league, then Ighalo should do the same before talking about return..
Perhaps, SE is not lacking in strikers..
I hope fans of Belmadi’s boy calls him to order. Picnick is also supporting the return of Ighalo..
Ighalo’s my foot !!!
rat poison available…dm me 4 home delivery..
Hahahahaha….laff wan tear my belle o. Abeg na the one from Pfizer you get abi the one from AstraZeneca…??? LMAO
Both are available, he just needs to make his choice….just delivered some to Omorohr few hrs ago…. Lol
Ighalo deserves his place in the Super Eagle ‘if’ he returns to a regular playing field. How there you forget so easily after he was voted the best striker in the last AFCON in Egypt. You seemed to have forgotten so soon the long experience that Ighalo could bring in at a time when everything is falling apart as we all saw in Benin City. If everything falls in place for Ighalo, he could be given the Band this time. And he deserves it.
