The striker has always struggled to replicate his impressive club form for the Super Eagles.

After the match, Rohr was asked how he felt after Onuachu finally scored a goal for him to which the Super Eagles manager replied: “Point of correction, Onuachu did not score for me but rather for himself and for Nigeria.

“I also believe that this goal will help his confidence whenever he is playing for the country.”

Even up until now, non of our so called ex cricket internationals have come out to congratulate rohr for his achievement yet again with 2 good games to spare. God knows the best way to deal with your enemies, preparing a table before u in the presence of your enemies and that’s Exaclty what He(God) has done for this “mechanic ” coach. Imagine, qualifying us for afcon back to back with 2 good games to spare , a feat that would never be achieved in the entire miserable coaching career of our african guardiaolas. They’ve all gone into hiding (odegbami, amikachir, oliseh, akporobie, mobi, finidi, amuneke, etc), sitting somewhere licking their sore wounds. Rohr has scarred them again. Lol. Sorry miserable wicked fellows. Make them come qualify us for afcon with games to spare make we see. Shameless fools. Congrats to our “mechanic ” coach who has set another impressive milestone record.

You a spot on @Oakfield just as I mentioned earlier:

Do you guys notice something, most of these ex-internationals that were criticising Rohr has never congratulated SE yet. The likes of Odegbami, Yakubu, Akpoborire, Babayaro, Mobi Oparaku who called GR a Mechanic, Finidi etc.
If their criticism were constructive and genuine, they should be the first to congratulate Nigeria SE even as a patriotic Nigerian and then to say their criticism pushed Rohr to victory. But rather they are sitting in their couch now gnashing their teeth and counting their loss, wondering …………chai this man has done it again, how and when are we going to have our fangs on this SE to market our academy players or get in as a backroom staff at least. Even Oliseh forgot his Twitter account login since yesterday. Yeye people

Nigerians you have a way of bad mouthing people. I don’t see any sense in your accusations of ex internationals because of the win against Benin. Did any ex international predict defeat? Sometimes you all gather here just to talk anyhow at superiors and feel excited. Whatever you hate all in the name of your present plights will not do you good to achieve. Keep hating those who have national interest at heart just because they don’t think like you.

You are just as deceitful as what you write and I don’t think God can answer your prayers if you don’t change your ways.

  • Dr Banks 3 years ago

@Chima E Samuel…..speak for yourself bro, them fit be your superiors but not me. Most of them are much younger and can only dream of achieving my level of Professional and academic excellence. Superiors because then play soccer?
Someone who called a certified coach a mechanic has national interest at heart? Or someone who endorsed the appointment of a non certified coach as National team Assistant coach has national interest at heart? Then why are they not coming out to congratulate Nigeria and Super Eagles if national interests mean anything to them?

  • All of a sudden some people are saying onuachu can be the new yekini. Funny!
I remember when alot of people here (including myself) were advocating for a change in style of play and more aerial balls being crossed for onuachu to be more effective in the team or he should be left out of the team entirely. But most people said the coach cannot change his style of play for anyone player and that onuachu should adapt to the Super Eagles style of play.
Im happy that even though the coach decided to drop him to the backup list, circumstances allowed him back into the main team. And the coach also boldly put him into the game and it was the same aerial ball albeit through a corner kick, that the giant player stretched with all his might to head the ball into the net.
I have said it before, there will be times when tactics may fail us and all we will need is to throw the ball into the box and hope we can locate a tall player to head it in. Yesterday match was a typical example.I hope the coach learned from this experience.

  • As presently constituted, Onuachu is not and cannot be the new Yekini. But he can be the new Yekini and even more, if he can improve on some aspects of his game.
Personally, I’m not bothered if he is scoring goals or not. As far as he is making valuable contributions to the team, like hold up play, good passes, running very well especially during counter, providing assist, dribbling when neccessary or needed. Goals will surely come at the right time, but while we wait for you to start scoring, the least you can do for us is to play good football…….good team football. When Osimhen took over from Ighalo newly, he was not scoring abinitio, but he was doing a lot for the team by providing good passes, troubling our opponents’ defences with his running, dribbling, hold up play etc. Currently, that the situation of Vardy at Leceister. He is not scoring, but he is pushing the job. He will eventually score

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Cant be better said. And that is why even with his 50 goals in Belgium, Osimhen will keep starting for the SE ahead of him. Even the goal he managed to score yesterday was as a result of the relentless effort of Osimhen. Victor didnt score a goal from open play until almost his 8th game in a SE shirt, but no one could fault his play, simply becomes of all he brings to the team. The day he starts doing those things you’ve listed above, that is when we can agree he has silenced his critics. Even the initial header from the corner kick was not from him…he missed it completely despite being the tallest man in the box. But at least he seems to be getting the message a little now. He knows time his running out and that a certain Sadiq Umar is waiting on the wings.Lol. The aggression with which he attacked that ball yesterday shows how much on his toes we have put him….LMAO…An Onuachu of b4 would have waited for the ball to come to him. That’s what competition brings. Otherwise apart from that goal, he still looked much of a misfit for the period he was on. But the goal should at least give his confidence a big lift. I hope he starts against Lesotho on Tuesday…..lets see how serious he is about his SE career. Lol

  • Mr Hush 3 years ago

    @Ocherome Mma

I can’t but agree more with your assertion.

Not trying to be a party poopa; Though Onuachu scored yesterday, we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves. I still think there is more to his game I expect he develops. His hold up play in particular.

But I am glad he took his chance yesterday and as the coach stated, hopefully, the goal gives him the confidence to develop even further to become that lethal weapon I believe he can be.

Ps. Yesterday, the Super Eagles pattern of play wasn’t changed for Onuachu. He blended into it. And it worked.

  • Victor Osimhen is still the top Goal scorer for the Super Eagles in Afcon qualifiers 4 goals if I am not Mistaking everybody seems to be forgetting that yet they will say Onuachu should start ahead of Osimhen

  • The way some people have been hyping him, if you didn’t watch the match you will think he dribbled all the opponents and scored….lol. Reality check….it was just a goal mouth scramble. But he tried…….no goal is easy to score. Though if he had missed that ‘open net chance’ that would have been his last chance with the SE (both main list and standby list).
On Tuesday I don’t know if he will start, but I’m sure he will get to play some part in the match. Tuesday will afford us another chance to assess him more.
