Rohr Invites Ejuke, Tijani, Lawal For Super Eagles October Friendlies

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr will include CSKA Moscow winger Chidera Ejuke, and Austria-based duo, Samson Tijani and Tobias Lawal in his squad for next month’s friendlies against Coted’l voire and Tunisia, reports Completesports.com.

Ejuke was one of key stars In the Dutch league last season.

The winger linked up with CSKA Moscow from Eredivisie outfit Heerenveen last month.

He has scored once in three league outings for his new club this season.

Former Golden Eaglets captain Tijani, who is loan at TSV Hartberg from Red Bull Salzburg will also get the chance to play at the senior level for the first  time.

Lawal, 20, is a goalkeeper who plays for Austrian side Linz.

“I invited two players from Austria. One of them you know him, Samson Tijani. He was the captain of our under 17 team that played the World Cup last year,”Rohr told ESPN.

“He signed for Red Bull Salzburg, he is also midfielder 18 years old and he’s on the loan to TSV Hartberg, a first division club. But I’m not afraid to invite him especially because he’s in Austria already.

“Also, the goalkeeper, [20-year-old] Tobias Lawal. He’s a young goalkeeper, playing in Linz. He was on the bench for the European games. They had very good European rally last year, they made it good competition. And he played already sometimes, he was already in Austria [‘s side], under 20 but only a friendly.”

The Super Eagles will face the Elephants of Cote d’l voire on October 9 with other fixture against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia to be held four days later.

Both games will be played at a yet to be named venue in Austria.

And we have a brother by the name of Marvin in the real Madrid squad. He made his debut over the weekend for Madrid. For zidane to have confidence in him and throw him into the party @62nd speaks volumes. I think he deserves to be monitored.

Alampasu was in goal for a Europa league game as a GK. Is that not enough to invite him?

Is it not time that Rohr gives Awoniyi a run at this kind of friendly. The guy has been playing constantly and definitely needs a chance to shine.

Why has a dropped onyekuru. We have not seen him enough for the Super Eagles.
Also, I want to also make a case for the inclusion of Emmanuel Dennis and Josh Maja.

Please, Rohr should be abit more transparent.
Is it possible for NFF to present this list through a press conference, so Journalist could ask direct questions to Rohr on players included or excluded.

In my own opinion, Ejuke still needs time to be watched at CSKA Moscow. Bright Osayi Samuel should be a smash and grab now, that guy is a beast.

Did I hear u say awoniyi????? Hmmmm… How people reason. Pls, can u tell us his remarkable contributions in his club that should earn him an invite ahead of others. Let’s not allow sentiments to becloud our sense of judgment. Awoniyi…. Lol.. Smh.

    @Edoguy you are absolutely right.
I believe Alapamsu deserve to be invited. If the yardstick for invitation of players to SE includes current form and performance, Alapamsu, Osigwe and Mathew should be on current list of SE.

  • When it comes to finding young and talented players give it to Rohr. He cant invite everyone to the Team and lets face it, some of these players haven’t done enough to warrant a call up. There are some exceptions though to a player being called up. For example if the Team desperately needs a left footed defender, then the coach may call a player no one has heard of before (collins J is such an example) irrespective of those who have been on the waiting list. Dennis is a good player but he isnt really consistent, plus there are too many players in his role.
Awoniyi only scored one goal last season, can you compare him to desser, simy or osimhen, NOOOOOO!
Alampasu has been in and out of the team but hasnt been given a chance. Sometimes club form can affect your chances. The trio of osigwe, alampasu and okoye concede alot of goals at club level. Okoye hasn’t much first team experience. I still say we should look into our home based goal keepers. We might find someone there.
But if coach Rohr wants to try a 20 yrs old lawal who is a decent goalie from the video clips I have seen, I think we should give him a chance. Plus there is a guy named Yakubu dont know where he plays but add them to what we have and we might get fortunate to find two or more good goal keepers.
    Give these players a chance!
